USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Amitchell and Sandra thanks for the info. I did not realize that they could not check it. I will try emailing his military account with the info available. Popcorn is a great idea. I think that I will get my boy some and send to him.

I have discovered that the only thing i like about this deployment is my cell phone bill. Now that my sailor has suspended his it was only $16! I feel sure that it will be more next month, but its to not pay $160. HOWEVER, i would gladly pay the $160 for him to come home!

Thanks for all this great info. I know that my son will call when he can. He is young and this is his 1st time out. I have always been able to leave him messages or text him. He had his phone service suspended until he gets back. I have been emailing on his yahoo address but not getting any response. I know he is fine. I have all kind on things to send him. I think every time I go to the store I pick up a little something to put in a care package. I am so glad to finally have people out there that understand. God Bless and have a wonderful evening.

I am so glad to have read some of these posts. My Son just arrive on the ship last week and we have only heard from him via a phone message. Hopefully he will have email soon. Do I need to get the address from him so I can send care packages?

I will try using that email formula (last name and first initial @lhd5.navy.mil) and see if she answers. thanks much. Also thanks for letting us know that the phone lines were down. I could not imagine why she did not call and ask me to start sending her stuff. LOL

their email is normally their last name and first initial @lhd5.navy.mil (this is all info that has been posted on the facebook). They were working on getting the marines' emails set up last week, they should be up by now i would assume (in case you have a marine on the boat).Try emailing them to see if they answer.

My sailor last night said they were good. He was trying to call and the phones weren't cooperating with him. Got 2 calls but i couldn't hear him talking. Said they hadn't gone far yet. (i hope thats not too much info).

Kathy thanks for the info. I am glad your daughter is doing well. It makes me feel so much better being able to use this site. Everyone on here is a blessing for my sanity. Again thanks.

my girl is also on the Bataan. She called last week. We have not heard since. I cannot even email her since she never sent us her email or sent us the correct address with her department or division. I know she is ok and will just have to wait until the next call when I can get all the proper information. Hang in there.

Hello ladies,

My son is on the USS Bataan. He has not emailed or called since he has been there. I have sent him a few emails and have a box ready to send. Are all your sailors doing okay? I am worried about him since I have not heard from him at all. I know that it has only been a few weeks but being the mom I am just worried. Can anyone tell me how they are doing?
