USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Got a surprised wake up call yesturday morning.  My son showed up in my bedroom and wroke me up.  I was so surprised to see him and no I was not dreaming either.  My husband and 2 daughters knew he was coming, they just had to delay me for making reservations.   I'm on cloud 9 right now.  Talk to you ladies later!!!

Sandra AM - this is our second one.  The 1st one my oldest came home before and talked to my youngest.  This time the youngest is more aware and is doing school projects about what's going on.  My husband did 10 years in the Navy.  I think it's been hard with my son leaving than it was when my husband did.  Got to quit watching so much news

Sandra AM Mom - that's my thoughts also.  Don't look like we will make it in time.  Know things are really crazy for my son.  Hopefully we will get a follow up email.  I haven't told our youngest much about his older brother leaving.  Don't really know what to tell him.

I'm new to N4M. I am a sister of a Sailor. My mom is Sandra AM Mom on here. We leave next week for VA to see my little brother. It's bitter sweet.

My son is coming home for a few days... he wants to tell his younger sisters in person and bring he things home including his car. Since he lives off base i guess he was given time to take care of things and empty out his apartment-he will leave all of us here in tears - I am a 6 years navy mom it never gets easier - i would have loved to go down and see the ship off I've never done that
