USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Sandra they look so happy! They are certainly going to go through a lot of changes. Sorry to hear you could not be there for the marriage but definitely be there for the birth of your grand baby :) is this there first baby together? And prayers definitely for them and your family. I hope all goes good with the baby too! Congrats

Thanks everyone, Hes not sure where they are getting married, he said JP, but he has been going to a church there in Norfolk and i told him they would probably be more than happy to do a little ceremony for them. I will not beable to go. They plan on June 15th, and then she will come back here, and he will try to take leave in July so they can drive her truck back. I will tell him he may want to get navy housing.

Sandra AM  Yes my son finished up his training yesterday and did very well. He will now be on a  reaction force team when he is on duty.  idk  You know they don't tell you any more than they have too.  LOL

Kim, Wow 6 more years that's awesome!!

ckmom I feel the same way. I hope it doesn't go out either. My husbands next duty station may be in VA. He puts his orders in next month. He wants the Bataan. 6 more years and we are done, he will have his 20 years in.

Siscarrie  Wow this summer Congatuations to both of you and family.  Where are they getting married, will it be on base?

Welcome allirish,  My son is living in the Navy Housing and really likes it.

Sandra AM, How are things going, haven't talked to ya in awhile.

About the Bataan going on deployment " I HOPE NOT FOR AWHILE YET"!!!

Siscarrie, I would have him check into Navy housing. Norfolk isn't the safest place in town that is. The bases are safe.

Comment by Kim on April 21, 2012 at 5:26pm

It sounds like he applied for Navy housing. It's much better than living on the ship. They give them what is called bah and that pays for there rent and everything included. Do you know when the Bataan will go on deployment.
