Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

I'll be on the cruse and would love to meet ya'll but I know once your Sailor is by your side, meeting n4m-mom's will be the last thing on your list . . . so . . . have fun on the dock and maybe I'll see you from the ship and we can wave . . .

maybe ya'll can wear a red bandana or something "hunters orange" (that's my Midwest rural community talking)

It HAS been nice talking with ya'll and I hope just because our Sailors are home side our communication doesn't stop . . . I usually don't talk much but I love to listen,   Joanne

Although I have only been part of this blog for a few weeks, it has made me feel less alone. As my son would say, it is a big Bravo Zulu. Thank you.

Joro...I agree with Barbara...You have made this deployment easier for me than any other deployment my husband has been on...I wish the best for you and you husband on his retirement.....You really should think about working with the commands to continue to support people like us...(lol) Thanks again for all of your encouraging words and information....

@ Joro- I am going to ask that you do not put any information out unless it has been released from the command and its offical. Any talk of yard work or anything of that nature is just talk. Nothing offical has come from the command.

The CO just took command in August and CO tours are anywhere form 12-18 + months long.

Any command questions for offical information need to go through the ombudsman.

Thank you
