USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Is is natural to feel nervous about your sailor coming home? I am nervous because its been so long and I am just nervous how I would react when he comes home.I just hope it won't be akward or soemthing.

Does anyone know the deadline for the Tiger cruise?  I'd love to go!! Also, I've been reading about Bataan shirts...  How do I get in the loop for these?  And does anyone know the date of arrival when the guys are expected to be in Norfolk?

@ siscarrie   That happened to my son also, I now have 2 more containers of puppie chow on it's way.  That was his Thanksgiving box. Now for his Christmas goody box, I mailed summer sausage, cheese and crackers, his favorite cookies and he said they were gone in no time.  I need to mail more sausage, cheese and crakers and whatever more I want to send.   Would love me to mail him his Christmas Slush but I'll save him some for when he gets home. lol

I wish I was going on the Tiger Cruise.  My son discourage the idea and wanted to just give us a tour of the ship the next day after the homecoming.  I was ok with that, but now he says as soon as he finds us on the pierer we are heading out of town!!  LOL  Wants to get home ASAP.  He says his leave starts when he gets to Norfolk.
