USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

We were able to talk to our son on the phone yesterday morning...he sounded so upbeat.  I do believe the last port helped morale greatly.  Being a MMFN he is always in the pit, works very long hours so I do believe a little fresh air did him good!  Made my weekend to hear his voice!

Received an email from Curtis, he said they had to do a FOD walk down because somehow a whole bunch of little bebe's got all over the deck. So they had to crawl around and pick them up.

Thanks Joro for the info, I understand that better now. That could cause a big problem!

how  do we send things to them?  This is my sons first assignment...

@ Sandra AM Mom I don't know how big the box is you sent out but what I have been doing is sending it through the post office I get a flat rate box so it can weigh up to 75 pds.  They are kinda small but it is only about $13.00 so if everything doesn't fit in one it's still cheaper for me to send 2.  And as I am sure you know if you get creative you can really fill it :)  I hope this may help.   I hope your son and the rest of the sailors are feeling better!
