USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

My sons first assignment... Operations Specialist.. is flying out to Africa the day before his birthday... how do I send him anything?  Will I be able to reach him on a phone?

Sorry to have caused such a commotion...It wasn't done intentionally at all...I hope you all realize that.  Forget sometimes what is ok and not ok to say, write, etc.  The excitement and anxiety of my son being gone, and wanting him to come home safely sometimes gets the best of me.  Just sent 3 more packages out today to him today...hoping he receives them by Thanksgiving.  Hope everyone has a great day and hear's from their loved ones before too long.

Ladies.......I have never commented on this forum but, have been apart of it for almost the entire deployment....The ladies on here keep my spirits high and I enjoy hearing about each and everyone of you..I have noticed that today we have a couple of people that has recently entered our forum that's attempting to bring the outside drama from other forums into this one.......I never understood the term that "loose lips sinks ships" until the tragedy bombing of the uss cole where I lost a dear friend........Regardless to what was researched and trying to prove someone wrong is not going to keep our Marines and Sailors safe...The Love of my Life, Father of my children, best friend (Husband) is on this ship and I want him home safe.....So regardless to YOUR ego please keep dates, months, first names etc. etc. off the public forums......If not for OPSEC....how about common sense.....I Love you ladies and keep up the positive attitudes...

I have been thinking also of what to get my son for Christmas. I was thinking of a ring with navy on it, but i don't want to get the rings that look like graduation rings. Any ideas of where to get one?

I received an e-mail yesterday from him he said he only had 1 day off to do anything in port, he is on crank:( He was hoping to do alot more while in port, he is ready to get home!!!
