USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Happy Halloween ladies!!! Did anyone hear from their sailor today? I got an email but half of it was cut off and it made no sense.

Donna I'm in the same boat, but he did say he wants a world series t-shirt since we won.  But I think he wants that now not for christmas.

Donna,  I got the same message from my son he seems to be homesick also.  I hope the rumors are good ones I could use some of those right now!!

Donna, I do email him and he emails sometimes.  He does call every few weeks so I do get to talk to him every once in a while.  It is hard but part of being a mother.  I am ok with it I just was having a little pity party for myself ;)  Thank goodness we know they are on the downward slope of this deployment!!  I am hoping the BATAAN facebook page posts some pics soon so we can see what our sailors and marines were up to during their off the ship :)

I am really missing my son right now. Not really sure why, but I didn't hear from my sailor all that much while they were in port either. But I'm glad they had fun.

@ Sandra AM Mom I know how you are feeling. My son is 19 and went from bootcamp to A school, home for a few days then off to meet the BATAAN in Italy. This time when they were in port I haven't heard from him but the GF has.  I keep telling myself at least he's getting to talk to someone from home but it still makes me sad.  I'll just have to face it mom is no longer the most important woman in his life right now :(   She is a great girl so I won't get to upset ;)
