USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Robyn your not alone at all, I'm having a very hard time with it also.

My husband had send some pictures of the farm and of him harvesting the corn to my son and he said the pictures where great but...made him very homesick.  We didn't want him to feel bad so that made me cry even more!

Whoops I was on page 2 sorry about that. Welcome aboard heartbeatsformysalior. Please pardon me I'm just having mommy issues.

It must be I'm having the same issue. I don't cry very often but lately I've been a faucet. I miss my son what seems like more and more everyday. Sometimes I feel stupid because all moms have to let go at some point in time so why am I having such a difficult time doing so. I also just want him home......

Thank you everyone.  It has been a huge transition for me but I am looking forward to spending the next few years in Virginia.  At ckmom...she is 7 months old and can't wait to finally see her daddy. She has been through a lot since being born.  She had a heart transplant in May. His rank is MA2.

Welcome heartbeatsformysailor, we are all here to help each other and glad your here.  What a precious baby, I'm guessing a girl and how old is this little miracle?

What job does your sailor have?

I just wanted to introduce myself. This is our first deployment as a couple and it has been very hard.  He is my best friend and the love of my life. We have known each other for 11 years and have been dating for over 2. We have a new baby who is truly a miracle that he has not met yet.  I just moved to Virginia Beach far from my family and friends but it is nice to hear from other women who are also in the same situation who understand what I am going through.  They have been so encouraging.
