USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

My son has been on the USS Bataan just a few short weeks. He has told his girlfriend that it is very cold on the ship and he sleeps in sweats. My question is does the ship not have heat?

There is a missouri group on here also. We have gotten together several times.         It's been pretty quiet latley on the Missouri  group, but a real good group of ladies!!    I live about an hour from St. Louis.    My brother lives in Decatur Alabama.

Hi everyone...my son is in the midst of doing the work-up for deployment on the Bataan come sometime between Jan and Mar. Is there anyone else out there who has a son/daughter preparing for deployment after the first of the year on this ship? To train he will go up to Norfolk for a week or so, come back to his base for a week or so and go back up for an entire month, come back for a few days and head back up for another month of training. This will take him into mid-December...

OH MY LORD, my heart just about fell down!  I am keeping all of them in my prayers, praying my son text me as soon as he can.  I am gonna officially be a basket case when they deploy:(

My sailor lost his life last November.  He has left the Battan for the Nitz and was on liberty in VA and hit by a train while on liberty.  Please share this video of his life and memorial.
