Hi - I don't see activity in this support group in a long time, and wonder if there are family members of Boise sailors out there?  My son joined and we got to tour the boat recently.  Would love to…Continue

I got her info.  If you want you can message me yours and I will pass it on.  Halfway boxes are a big deal.  Or at least they are on a boomer ( like the hubbs was on before).  He can give you info on space dimensions and stuff like that.  They can have a rack pack, BUT if they have to hot rack they share the space.  I would look into fleet sheets instead of a rack pack if it were me.  They are a fitted sheet so making the bed is a lot easier.  You know that they have port calls and can get mail a time or two during deployment right?  So even though they don't have a ton of space you can send some stuff to them.  Is this your son's first boat?

Hollybear, if I get contacted I will send it to you. Supposedly my son gave my info to the ombudsman, but I have not heard anything. Does anyone know if the guys can have a rackpack? And how important are the "halfway boxes?" Just wondering how much I need to worry about it. Thanks!!

My hubby just got onto the USS Boise.  Does anyone have the ombudsman info?  He is so busy he keeps forgetting to get it for me.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to visit. We are in CA, and I was really hoping for a west coast port, but if he has to be on the East Coast I think Virginia is probably the place to be! I can't manage more than one trip back per year because of the expense, and I just got back from Connecticut so it will be a while.

Thanks for the info on the team. I know there is probably not much the kids can share with us, so not as much to share among ourselves, don't know whether that is good or bad.

So has your son received his dolphins since he has been there about a year? AND has he said anything to you about getting any college out of the way? I am thinking that college stuff will have to wait until the dolphins are earned...

I am Nancy from the San Francisco Bay Area

Hi! My son is on the USS Boise and has been for the past year. He says they have a good team and aside from the long hours he seems pretty happy in Norfolk! We have visited several times and there is a lot to do in the area, great restaurants and the beach is nice (even though we have only been on it when it was cold). I hope the transition for your sons is an easy one!

Lorraine-my son will be heading out to the Boise on the 24th of this month. This doesn't seem to be a very busy place. How is it going for your son?

My son just found out that he will be going to the USS Boise. He has to report no later than July 29th.
