Hello everyone,

I am a Navy Mom.  My son just started C school today.  He is an IS and will be graduating in 6 weeks.  His orders after that are to the USS BHR.  He is looking forward to whatever the Navy has in store for him.  He is my youngest child so I am having mixed feelings about him being on the other side of the world.  Thank God for texting, facebook, facetime, skype and emails.  Looking forward to getting to know you all.

welcome, boo2u2.  my son is currently on the BHR.  your son and all his buddies will love the packages!  i try to send 1 a month, but i have slowed down.  :(  getting ready to send him a valentine box!  he told me after i sent 2 boxes for CHRISTmas that he is having trouble finding where to put everything.  so, for now, i am just send consumables.  candy, and other food i know he likes.

i miss you all as i haven't been on here very much lately.  just been crazy at work and home and busy at church. hubby, daughter, and i are going to be part of the Easter program this year.  we are so excited.  it's a drama.  not that we are actors, but we're gonna give it a try.  hope you all are doing well.

I just reread this page.

Hello all, my son served on the USS Essex (now BHR) and is now a navy recruiter.  Boo2u2, he was an FC also.  They work in a shop and he had a spot there to store goodies.  They loved my jam and fudge in his shop.  He also had use of a computer in the shop, so he didn't have to line up to send me emails.

He married a girl from Sasebo and she is travelling this Saturday to Sasebo and staying with family for a month.  He could not get the time off because he just arrived at his new job in Middletown, NY.  They want to go next Christmas.

Hello, I am new to this page, my son just arrived late Decemeber, to the Bonhomme Richard.  This is his first duty assignment, since his PIR was 11/08.  I had a question, when they are deployed, do they still receive their mail?

Katie loves mint too.  I made cookies with the andes 'chips' and one of the HT1s wanted to make them himself and couldn't find them in the NEX on base, so I mailed him a couple packages. When a pan of brownies comes out of the oven, you can line up andes on top and wait a few minutes, after they melt you can lightly swirl them to make the topping. Have fun baking!

MarianneKT's Mom - he is an FC3. Thanks for the information. So glad we can send packages. He LOVES thin mints and we wanted to send a couple of boxes.

boo2u2 - By all means, yes!  Send the care packages, letters, etc.  My daughter was on the USS Essex/BHR for just over 3 years.  I would send Katie packages no less than once a month.  The guys in her 'shop' loved it.  I would even take requests of cookies/bars/candy that they wanted.  A lot of sailors don't get packages and homebaked goods from home!

What rate is your son?  My daughter is a DC. She is now on the USS George HW Bush (CVN 77)
