Good Morning to all, just wondering if anyone has last minute advice for my son and I. He's looking forward to this new start as he is 18 and a new sailor. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Veteran's Day to you, too, and everyone.

When I chatted with Josh this morning, I asked that same question.  He hasn't heard anything about going.

I was wondering the same thing.  I wonder if they were going if they would know already.  Such devastation.  Very sad.  We have family there (my hubby's side).  We've heard from most through FB, but still waiting on others.

   Happy Veterans' Day...My Navy Family!

Cathy - A Navy Mom from Texas has started a bakery out of her home.  I saw some of her other work and decided to order from her.  They are personalized, in that, not only are there ones that you see, but I also told her that she was on the USS Essex, USS BHR, she included the sailor's creed, ones with ESWS and EAWS, a sailor in dress whites, etc.... 4 Angels Bakery on FB

Love the cookies Marianne!  You made them, right?  Congratulations to Katie!  And of course to her family too!

Myersboy, I too mark my packages return to sender.  I've never had any returned though. Even when they are off the ship and on base, they will receive them.

Sharon, welcome back!  How's the reserves for Steven?  Josh's 4 years of active duty will be done December 6, 2014 (I'm assuming that they count from when they left for bootcamp).  At one time he talked about saving his 30-day leave for the end so he could get out a little earlier.  But he'll be home for a 24 day leave around the holidays so sounds like he changed his mind.  I don't think he plans on re-enlisting.  I hope to hear more of his plans when he is home.

     Take care everyone!

Myersboy - Not sure what to tell you on the packages. I always marked mine 'return to sender', but they always arrived, eventually.  Think the quickest was 10 days and the longest was 2 months when they were rerouted after the tsunami relief efforts from several years ago.  Unfortunately, once the packages leave the hands of the USPS and into military processing, the tracking #s don't really help anymore.  Eventually.............he will get them.
