Happy Mothers Day!
I talked to my son today and asked him if he was getting excited about the Essex coming home. He said that an FC that he worked with transferred to the BHR around the time he transferred to the Boxer. He plans on teasing this guy for being back on the Essex.
a 'chit' is filed for an authorized leave request
Here's what one looks like: www.unl.edu/nrotc/Nc3065.pdf
The may have gone electronic by now
sharon, seems like our Sailors think alike. i have asked for stuff (lots of times) and he just doesn't see the importance of it!!! :( we better be able to purchase stuff on the ship somehow or he's gonna have a mad mama! he he
we got the medical forms to have the dr fill out. still won't know if we have a spot on the cruise until the dr on the ship reviews them...ugh i'm not a very patient person, by the way...ha ha
what is "chit?"
Auntie J, Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. His discharge happened so fast that I didn't even think about trying to get something from the ship. It was still in dry-dock in San Diego when his accident happened (Fell down a ladder well and had a huge, 5 gallon bucket of paint fall ontop of him. He spent a lot of time at the hospital.)
marianne, that is so neat and something i would definitely do!!! LOVE OUR KIDS!!!
mrs b. i'm sure someone can work something out. my son said he lost his card that allows him to purchase stuff on the ship??? makes me MAD, a little, because i have asked him for Essex stuff. ERGH if no one else can do it, i'll work on it. hope your husband is ok.
Hey Ladies, my husband used to be on the USS Bonhomme Richard. He got injured before his enlistement date was up, so he was discharged (honorably). But I never got the chance to get a T-shirt from the ship. Would any of you be able to talk to your sailors to see if they could get me a t-shirt that has the ships name on it, or something? Thanks so much! You can inbox me, if you want, or respond here, if anyone can do that. Thanks!!!!!
Sharon, no visit home first since she is filing a chit to come home for the 2 weddings she is bridesmaid for this summer.
But........Did something crazy today..Flew to Chicago to surprise Katie and spent her layover at O'Hare with her. Met her when she got through customs. Happy tears on both sides. I'm back home and she is safely in VA.
