My husband is an MMFR , an engineer, and keeps the ship moving. I won't be moving there till they are back in the yards next August after the swap and rimpac. So I am hoping to finish up college here in Arizona before next August .

Glad to meet you all !

I've heard the same info about the Essex and BHR swapping ships, so I would imagine it's true..

First of all, Congratulations on your engagement!   I don't know what an FC is...can you fill me in?  When will your fiance report to the BHR?  We've been to San Diego many times over the last 3 years and it's a beautiful city with lots of beautiful beaches, you'll love it there.  I'm in Texas, it's a great place to live but the weather and the beaches just don't compare!

My fiance is an FC. He is finishing up C-school in VA right now. I live in South Carolina. We got engaged about a month ago and were waiting until he got orders to make wedding plans. I hope to live with him in San Diego ASAP!

Welcome to the group! What does your fiance do?  Are you already in San Diego?

Hope we can help with any questions or concerns you may have as you get settled on the BHR.  We all have different experiences we can share...

Jane, I once asked Richard if he ever had to wash dishes and he said that CSs don't wash them, other people are put on rotation to clean. He said all he does is bake bread, cakes and other baking assignments. During RIMPAC he had his picture on Facebook on the RIMPAC page. I'll tell Richard to be nice to Hayden when he's there.

Jane, Thanks for sharing the article. I talked to Richard yesterday, and he was soooo tired. He said that everything they put into storage is now being put back. I think he is glad that he will soon be back in the galley.

Jane, did you find out the information about the ombudsman? I know last summer, while they were in Hawaii, I had to get in touch with Richard. I forget who I emailed, but within a few hours, Richard called me. The Navy is very good about families and the caring of them.
