Happy Veterans' Day!  I know that we are all feeling the same sentiments today!

Comment by cathyo Ship 11 Div 063 on November 7, 2012 at 10:50pm

Uncle settled in!  We got everything moved to the nursing home.  Got his room all set up with his pictures and plants and his favorite chair and blankets!   And as confused as he can be and in his own little world at times, he couldn't thank me enough for being with him all day. Very long emotional day but in the end it felt good as I knew he was comfortable and safe and under a more watchful eye.

Thanks Sharon.  And I hope your mom is recovering.  Must be hard being away and getting that news.

Oh...and I got the letter from Josh that I needed for the insurance company!  YAY Josh!!

Take care all!

Well...flights cancelled with no penalty.  I contacted insurance company.  I need the letter from Josh's commander before I can submit the claim for the refund.  Heard via text from Josh last night.  Says he has asked once and will continue to ask until he gets the letter.  But I read on the FB page that internet might be down and we won't be hearing much from our sailors.  I wonder if the ombudsman can help me.  Maybe I'll wait a couple days before I contact her.

Well...got the call today that a nursing home bed has opened up.  I will be taking my uncle tomorrow.  Even though we told him this was going to happen I know he won't remember.  He was very upset at the time.  I dread delivering the news tomorrow.  I think it will be quite emotional.  And my sisters and parents are all in Disney  :-(

Hope all are well!  Sharon, I hope you are enjoying your visit!!!

cathy - sorry Josh's leave was cancelled.  We have only dealt with changing flights and not cancellation.  On the flight we changed we didn't have insurance but the airline changed it for free...nt sure what would have happened with a cancellation.

Just received official word from Josh that his leave was canceled.  :-(

I wrote back and reminded him he needed to send me a letter from his superior officer so that I can submit it to insurance company.  Any one out there ever have to do this before?

I received an email from Josh last night saying it was very likely that it would be canceled.  Haven't heard anything since.  I'm assuming his will be canceled too.  I wrote back and said I would cancel once I received confirmation from him.

I did purchase flight insurance, but anxious to see how it will really work.

Take care all!

18 certainly sounded too good to be true.  Think the most I remember Katie getting from Japan was 14 (- those traveling days).  At least he will be able to be home ;)

thanks Marianne, he said 18 days leave was too good to be true. now it will be 10 (less with travel time).

Comment by MarianneKT's Mom on November 2, 2012 at 9:16am

Mary - sorry Jesse won't be home for Thanksgiving but glad to hear he will still be home for Christmas.  Hopefully there won't be any issues changing his flights!

Jesse's thanksgiving leave was canceled. He should have December leave though. Don't have new dates yet from him so that we can switch flights
