Reading back through some older posts and I'm wondering how Dana, Julie, Teresa, stacy's mom and their sailors are all doing?

What are the "Kyle's" jobs? And what is Stacy's job?

Jess likes to say "hey, I think our moms are buddies" - and he can usually tell who they are by first name and job (LOL).

Jess just emailed me again. they had ptr weigh in. He said he is up to 164 but thinks they are wrong, cuzz he feels like 170. what a weird kid. I think he was about 150 when he went in. He also said they had raffle tickets for stuff that you bought at the ship store, and he won a BHR coin. He said he was looking at them but since he is a cheapskate he didn't buy one (his words not mine!). Anyhow, now his momma will have a BHR coin after all.

Hope everyone will be safe with this storm coming. Sounds like we're in for some crazy weather! (anyone watching Last Resort? kind of a strange navy tv show. Not sure if I want to keep watching it).

hey Mary...I bet Jesse's adreniline was pumping like crazy!  I hope all is well with his favorite sister girl!  YAY Jesse!

Thanks all for your prayers.  Much appreciated.  Actually, Josh hasn't gotten his official approval of his thanksgiving leave either.  I'm such a nervous wreck that prices will skyrocket the closer it gets.  The past couple of days I've been going on line and "holding" the reserveration for 24 hours and then going in an cancelling and rebooking on hold.  Nerve wracking!

I've had men on my roof all day!  We are getting a new roof.  My husband and oldest son have been ripping off shingles part of yesterday and today.  Some of Josh's friends work for a roofer and we hired them to help out to put on the new roof.  And Josh's dog (Nani) has been going NUTS all day!  She knows Josh's friends and she has been whining and barking and running from window to window!  She wants to be with them so bad!  They should be done by Sunday noon.  Just in time for Hurricane Sandy who now is predicted to be up our way by Monday.

Sharon, love the picture of Steven playing soccer!

“Our” Jesse had quite the evening tonight. He was on watch when  he had to “call away medical emergency” – it was his first time ever having to do that. He thought his fellow HT guy was messing with him at first, but was told it was not a joke. He told me he had to say that official (scary) stuff…”medical emergency, medical emergency, medical emergency…HT shop compartment (number)”  yeah! HT Shop! His Shop!  He was afraid one of his shop shipmates was seriously hurt, and you know “our” Jesse and how emotional and intense he can be. He had to calm himself down and put his emotions aside for the time being. Well, turns out his “favorite” sister girl (yeah most of his girl shipmates are his pain in the neck “sisters” lol) had passed out/fainted. They got her on fluids, and are keeping her overnight for observation. They think it was due to low potassium. He visited her after watch and she said she was proud of him on the 1mc (I guess that is the announcement microphone), and she gave him a big hug. Then after his emails that he had sent to me with all this news, he called me! Of course he was calling with another “$6 left on a phone card he found), so we only had a short time to talk. Then he said there is a “ship store clearance” going on so he bought us t-shirts, hats, and hoodies with BHR on them. So…get on those sailors of yours and tell them to go  and buy you some BHR stuff!

Hi friends! Sure has been a lot of action on here lately!!

Kyann, it’s gotta be making you crazy not knowing when Hunter will get leave! I’m goin crazy for you too! Let us know as soon as you know! Maybe our boys will get to travel together. (I’ll tell Jess to get on his butt and get it going!)  Really enjoyed Hunters recent FB pics!

Sharon, your travel schedule is hectic! But sounds fun also. Jesse’s flights cost the same as Steven’s and we got the travel insurance too. Love it that next time will be on the Navy’s tab! Jess says he might not come home next Christmas because he is out for good that next mid-May! Can’t wait for that day! Love the pic of Steven!  Hey, if you ever do make it to Kyann’s neck of the woods, I’m in! Get together at Kyann’s anyone? J

Cathy, Praying for your Uncle and your family (hugs). Love that Josh’s picture is in his plant. Very cool. Can’t wait to hear how the surprise goes! You will HAVE to ask someone to video tape it!!

Marianne, I don’t know how you keep up with those busy traveling kids of yours! Thank God for technology that keeps us moms linked in to them! Good for them though, I know you are proud of their success, and I am too.

KimTn, Nice to “see” you!! Christmas during leave sounds fun. Maybe we will do something like that too. Jess is adamant about keeping things low key during his leave. Christmastime was so hectic on his leave last year with everyone running around finishing up Christmas stuff, so I promised I’d keep this leave more relaxed for him. Also – my daughter/boyfriend/g-kids might be moving to Arkansas (his fam is there) before Christmas, so Jesse’s leave time may be bittersweet as we prepare to say goodbye to them.  They are going through a tough time, no jobs and other issues (long story) they might not have it “together” to actually leave by then. Hoping if they do go, that they make a fresh start and are successful.

Grateful we have this site, I am more comfortable talking to you guys here, rather than FB, I think FB is too big of a place for all of the little things. Plus “we” can talk “navy speak” LOL!!!  K- I’m gonna make another post with Jesse’s day today… standby! Love ya’s

Sharon  -  Great pic....great that he made the article and you could see him in 'action'.

No, I won't be seeing Katie now that she didn't 'need' me for the first leg.  It is wonderful that Alicia will be able to spend so much time together and they will be traveling thru states we haven't been together as a family.

Have a wonderful, safe trip.  Enjoy traveling with you ;) ... Love the pics and updates.

cathy, so sorry to hear that anyone has to go through that.  life, gotta love it, huh?  will be thinking of and praying for your uncle and your family.

hunter did say he would be taking leave, but he didn't tell me when.

marianne, sounds like katie will be busy and get to see so many people.  nice!

i would love to meet you all in person, too!  if you're ever near central ohio, please let me know.

sharon, i asked my hubby if route 40 was too far for me to drive to meet you, and he kinda shook his head.  they just don't understand!  ha ha  hope you have a safe trip.  recently, the youth pastor at the church we attend, moved to atlanta, ga.

Katie is headed to Ft Leonardward soon for some DC training.  One of her friends that got married this summer lives in St Louis, so she will visit her on the weekend during the training. Then she is taking some leave and visiting friends from the Essex in OK and on to visit the other friend who got married who lives in Dallas.  There Alicia will fly down and meet her and they will take a road trip via Alicia's best friend in Atlanta area and then cousins in NC before arriving back at base.  Alicia plans on staying thru Thanksgiving and returning to MI on the 24th....Thomas's 16th birthday.

So, long story short, Alicia and Katie will be together for Thanksgiving.  Katie has mentioned that she won't be home for Christmas, but that we could visit her for her birthday and/or Christmas..........flying standby at Christmas time...Hmmm

Cathy.....will keep your Uncle in my prayers.

Happy Friday!  Wow!  Lots of action here!

Mary, sorry to hear Jesse has the flu.  Hope he got to enjoy some R&R.

oh, Sharon, I wish I lived in that area.  I would love the opportunity to meet!  Actually would love to meet all my Navy Mom Friends!

KimTN, nice to hear from you!  Happy to hear Hans is doing well.  Enjoy your Thanksgiving with him!

Hi Marianne!  Hope all is wel wtih katie and rest of your family.  LOL!  Love the water soldier.  That is so cute!  Will Katie be able to make it home for any of the holidays?

Kyann, I don't remember...is Hunter planning on coming home thanksgiving?  Josh put in for approval but hasn't gotten official word yet.  Fingers are crossed!!!

So, we are getting ready to move my Uncle from assisted living to nursing home.  He needs more care than they are able to give him.  He's been in and out of the hospital due to falls.  Thank God, nothing broken.  He always knows who we are, but he doesnt remember from second to second and sometimes it just seems he's not there. He always asks about Josh and always says "God Bless Him."  He keeps his sailor picture in a plant as would say it symbolizes Josh's growth.  He doesnt communicate much anymore. He would be mortified if he knew the things he has done and how we find him sometimes.  He was an English teacher and such a dignified man and demanded the utmost respect from students and colleagues.  Poor man.  It's so sad to watch.

   Take care all!

My niece told me this today......Kjiersten is 5 and Natali is 3.........One of Kjirsten's classmates has a dad in the Navy. Natali calls him a "water soldier" (she saw him in his blue camo the other day)
