aw, love reading these posts!!!  funny about josh leaving the shirt, sharon, hunter left one of those grey Navy shirts, and it's in my drawer.  i tried to put it on last week, and it was a little snug.  :(  i don't like tight fitting clothes.  it doesn't seem like it will stretch either.  he also left Navy sweats and a hoody that i might try to get into.  :)  i know it will make me feel closer to him.

marianne, you were good to get the earlier shirts, wish i would have.

have a wonderful day, all!

Hi Marianne, I'm sure it was wonderful having Katie home! She must love the short travel time now that she is in the states!

For the first time, we weren't allowed to go to the gate when Josh left. Apparently now that the flight is operated by Japan Airlines, they do not allow this. (Even though I bought tickets through American Airlines.) I was quite surprised when I was told this and burst into tears :-( Josh put his arm around me and gave me an extra big hug. One of the Japan Airlines managers had seen this and allowed him to board at the last possible time. He was escorted by one of the agents through security to expedite.

Looking forward to the hull swap tee-shirt from the new artist. But Josh forgot to pack his USS Bonhomme Richard softball shirt :-) Now it's mine!!!!

Take care all!

Welcome Summersun - I'm over here in Ypsilanti.

Said 'goodbye' to Katie today. She left for Norfolk from Detroit today. Found out that with her military pass she can avoid the lines at security and enter over by the 'crew'....the TSA lady told her today as we were going thru.  Katie said she had heard this but didn't walk in front of others - don't think she knew they entered security through a different line.  The TSA lady also told her about the Freedom Center in the Delta terminal for military and their famly (kind of like a USO).

I didn't have any issue getting a pass to go to the gate with her.  They just asked for her military ID, orders and my ID at the Delta counter.

SO glad I got the other T-shirts earlier that they sold.  In fact, that is what Katie was wearing when she returned to Norfolk today.

Katie enjoyed the Detroit Tigers game last night with one of her uncles and her 2 brothers.  Katie wore her Brandon Inge shirt, even though her favorite Tiger has moved on to Oakland. The Tigers beat the Yankees.  Her big sister texted her after the game 'You must be their lucky charm!'

Katie shared that when she was on vacation with her sister in Sault Ste Marie last week that 'She couldn't get away from the Navy.....the pep band was there!'

So, I was sitting at the computer last night looking at Facebook...missing our sailor and checking to see if there had been any activity on his FB page since he had gotten back from leave.  Didn't see anything and then a picture popped up of him and two other shipmates from their softball tournament with a medal.  Several minutes later, I got a text from him about the tournament.  He had a BLAST!  The tournament went from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.  They played 8 games and then 4 in a row to win the tournament.   Reminded me of his days in little league, babe ruth, and school ball.  Anyways, just nice to see him having fun!

Hope all is well with everyone!

sorry, cathyo...just read your comments below. so he's been there since 2011. its good you had him for a couple of weeks. It hurts though everytime they leave again. I experience that w/ my 2 sailors. The older one who is in the USS abraham lincoln will be home soon in just a few days. Being a navy mom is like a ferris wheel ride. It has its ups & downs ..as in everything, I guess :)

Happy Anniversary Kyann!  Glad you had a lovely day!

Well...our sailor is now back in Japan.  The house is quiet.  What a whirlwind!  He squeezed so much in...right up to our last day at the Yankees game - he met up with a friend in the city before the game.  I've been on vacation for a little over two weeks and return to work tomorrow....ugh!  Feeling blessed to have had him home....

Take care all!
