OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Ladies! The boat did have a recent port visit, but they are now back out to sea again. The port they visited does not have the environment to allow the guys to access a computer as readily as other places, so please don't be offended if you did not get an e-mail. If all goes well, be on the lookout for the newsletter to come out around the 10th of this month (give or take a couple of days).

Hi ladies! I'm still waiting for confirmation from the boat. I sent a second request yesterday and hope to hear something soon!

Thank you Jenna for the great info and the newsletters! I really appreciate your hard work, especially as a volunteer! I know how much time and effort you give, and I know we all are in debt to you! Thank you again!

Sorry, I'm not sure why the link to the OPSEC Snapshot did not show up. You can view the presentation at http://www.slideshare.net/mcponpao/opsec-snapshot-3965572 . If it doesn't hyperlink, simply copy and paste the address to your browser. This presentation deals specifically with OPSEC and social media sites (kind of like this one).

I am an official command representative (volunteer) who is a spouse of a service member within the command. My husband is "Doc". I am a point of contact for all family members connected to the command - spouses, parents, extended family members. I am also an official source of command information for family members. While the boat is deployed, I am the emergency contact for the boat.

I do my best to protect the privacy of the service members and I will verify your connection to the sailor if you want to be added to the newsletter distribution list.

I can tell you the boat is currently underway, but that is all I can tell you because of Operational Security. Please take a moment to look at the MCPON OPSEC presentation at

If you would like to be added to the e-mail distrubition list, please e-mail me at buffaloombudsman@yahoo.com. Once I have verified your connection to your sailor, I will add you to the list. You can also e-mail me at this address and I will send you my contact numbers for emergencies.
