For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

LOL! NJ, thanks. I sure feel like I'm here all the time. But truly I am glad to connect with any moms with Sailors aboard the Hue City, especially since I am trying to adjust to the fact that I can write & send packages but I might not get a response. No more texting for awhile either. But ladies, we have to believe in the quality of our Sailors' training. I feel that this mission has its dangers--they are aboard a guided missile cruiser after all--but I have faith in the US Navy NOT to place our guys in harm's way without it being absolutely necessary. Hugs to all. Prayers for them.

Yes, he is an AE. I figure that anything that is on the internet in a news article can't be too secretive. I have my google alert setting, to anything about the strike force. I don't understand it all, but I am trying.

Thanks for not throwing the whole OPSEC thing in my face. Yes, I know we shouldn't discuss specific dates and I really don't need to know specifics. I really am just wondering if anyone had heard which ships might stay out and which will come in earlier. Is your son on USS Hue City?

Cesimon, I feel for you trying to plan a wedding. This is no easy task for military families. My son just got married in April and had to ship out a couple of days later. I have read the deployment will be for 9 months. I have also read 7 months. My son thought it would be 8 1/2 months. I'm not sure any time is definite.
Anyone else know more?

Does anyone know anymore details about this supposedly "long deployment"? I'm wondering if it is the whole group or just specifically a few ships... If anyone has any more information that would be great. I know moms and wives tend to get more information than girlfriends... Trying to plan a wedding.

Hello ladies I just joined today in hopes of staying connected to moms like me. I find no one truly understands unless they have experienced a child being deployed. This is his first. It's funny our husbands and friends can go, but the kids........that is an entirely different situation. But we as moms have been told to let them go (were we holding them?? lol) Ugh... Maybe a little bit but we have our reasons lol.
Well I won't ramble on. I wish all the moms and whoever else may have signed up on here the highest blessing the Lord will allow you to receive. I pray you all will stay strong through the process and stay close to God to keep you grounded when it gets tough. We are strong women. Always have been. Hell if it wasn't for us our kids.....oops had a moment of reflection ha ha. Nonetheless we can and will survive this with the grace and mercy of God that dwells within each and everyone of us. I wish you all peace, love, and light.
