yes josh'saunt, they can receive mail while on deployment. I'm sure your sailor can skype now while they are in port.

Any idea about mail delivery while they are out on deployment? Are they allowed to skype or anything while out? Probably not. Anywho didn't know if I should send out package now or wait. But i think I read that they may be on deployment until Thanksgiving?

Hi mary b.  When will he be joining them?  My sailor has been on the Mighty Moo for 14+ months.  They are in Manila right now.  This has been a busy deployment - for my son at least.

My son will be joining the Cowpen soon.

The 7th fleet website used to have photos daily, but now they changed it and I can't see it at work.  Drives me crazy.  But I also keep up with the other ships.  I agree Mike's Mom - I feel connected somehow.  My sailor is good at staying in touch, but there have been times when he's been too busy - like lately.  Poor guy.

Another strategy for keeping tabs on your sailor (when out) is to subscribe to the FB pages of the other ships that are in the group. They all post pics but at different times, so you can get a pretty good idea of where they have been. Somehow, that gives me comfort.

I checked the facebook and didn't see any pics of my sailor...oh well. I will tell him to get in that photo next time as I am putting together his care package and enclosing a little note. Anxiously waiting to hear if he was getting to come home at Christmas or not.

Thanks. I've followed the USS Cowpens FB page and joined the Japan Mom's group as well.

Does anybody know when they will find out if their December leave has been approved? Will they find out before they return to Yoko?

Welcome Stephanie! Our sailor is undes and was very unhappy at one point, but I did a lot of research and found quite a few sailors who felt despite the grunt work it was a good way to go. You should check out the undes group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/momsofundesignatedsailors
