Hi Stephanie, Welcome. Yes, from what I have heard that is true. My son is a Deckie. There are precautions that they have to take to be safe and watch out for eachother. Someone got to do the job.

My son is undesignated seaman, PACT Seaman. He has sounded a little concerned so far because someone ( I suppose whoever is training them) has told him that deck work is really dangerous and is the most dangerous job on the ship.  He's feeling a bit unhappy that he's undesignated now.

Hi Stephanie! Welcome!! My son will soon be there a year and is hoping to come home at Christmas on leave. This group is pretty quiet so you may not hear much here. I know that the Japan moms group is much more active. What is your sons rate?

Hello, everyone! My son's PIR was 9/28 and he will be headed to the USS Cowpens in a few weeks or so.

Hahaha - yes my sailor does that!   By the third week of being on the ship last summer he found every garbage can on the ship.  He remarked on how there weren't many.  Ugh - I can't imagine.  He told me over the weekend that the waves had calmed.  He was glad of that.

My ex was a sailor. He had terrible seasickness. He says he just used to tuck a couple of barf bags under his belt and carry on! But he still loved sailing!

My sailor still hasn't gotten used to those waves.  One person commented that they've never seen a happier sick person.  ;)  Poor kid.  But I'm glad he's learned to smile through it.

Go Mighty Moo! There are new pics up on their FB page. They were in Saipan (I had to look that one up on the map!) doing some community service projects. Looked like everyone was having a great time.
