Evidently I'm a really good liar.  But I tried not to lie - I just didn't tell.  I had to pick him up in Milwaukee which is a 3 1/2 hour drive, so I told everyone I was going to my brothers to help him paint.  They all know I love to paint so it wasn't a stretch.  (Ok - there was a lie - but it was the only one)  Picked him up Friday night, and drove home on Saturday.  We surprised my daughter first. Besides Adam coming home, we surprised my daughter by scheduling her daughter's baptism on Sunday, then we were all leaving for Florida on Monday.  Got back yesterday.  What a trip!!!!!  It was quick but we were still able to do some of our favorite things.  This weekend is catching up with some friends and family.  He has to leave on Tuesday.  Funny how any other time the weeks drag on.  But his time home has cruised by.  And now that he's been home I feel better.  I dread that trip to the airport though.  Hate that.

Happy Easter everyone!!!!!!!

My surprises were a success!!!!!!!  my husband and my daughter had no idea our sailor was coming home!  Everything fell into place very nicely.  My daughter's reaction was priceless.  She had a baby 2 months ago and it was really hard for her with her brother so far away.  Watching him with the baby that first moment.... ah  - that's what life's about.  Had an absolutely amazing day!

It has been 9 months.  Funny - I think this 9 was worse than the first... ;)

Lots of surprises in store for friends and especially family this weekend.  I just can't wait to hug him.....

Got a message from my sailor at 3:44 this morning..... he was just boarding AMERICAN AIRLINES for the United States of America!!!!!!  I will be hugging him and crying my eyes out at approximately 6:15 this evening.  =)

Sounds like the ones that stay in Japan will be assigned to the new ship.  A guy Adam went to boot camp with contacted him on Facebook and said he was on the ship that was replacing the Cowpens.  Adam said he wouldn't mind shore duty over there.  I was surprised when he said he wanted to stay, but he said why not - I'm young and have nothing holding me back.  He said he still has lots to explore in Japan.  I'm ok with that (I think ;)

Jenismer...my sailor appears to want to stay in Japan as well.  What happens to those on the Cowpens when the ship is decomissioned next year?

That's awesome!!!!!!  So happy for you!

My sailor told me recently that given the opportunity he plans to stay in Japan vs. coming back to the states.  A friend of his just got his orders to Japan.  Can't wait to take the trip to see them both.  Right now I'm planning for November/December but it all depends on deployment.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Mine either.  He went closer to Tokyo for training.  (but the Easter bunny is delivering the most wonderful gift this year...... the 30th can't come soon enough!)
