Was anyone able to see their sailor when they were in the states for training?????
So happy for you both!!!!! I'm still hoping to see my sailor soon.
Have you heard the latest news about the Mighty Moo? Google it....
That's exciting, Greg Mom!! How long will he get to be home?
My son is coming home March 15th. Just 34 days until i see him!
Adam was told Japan but when he got his initial e-mail about training they told him he was all set to go to Virginia - contact them to make housing arrangements. I was so excited. But then he checked into it and he's staying in Japan. :( Maybe next time.
Virginia for what? Adam is going to school for something but will be in Japan - close to Tokyo. Are they going for training? Adam has been trying to figure out a time to come home. My daughter's baby is due any day so he would like to come home, but there's too much of this, that and the other thing lately. Patience is a virtue right?????
Robin, the app that he uses to text is called "text plus free". His texts just go to my phone just like they normally do. I just text to the number that he gave me and it goes to his ipod touch. If you have another apple devise I think you can use "i message" also.
Jenismer...I know...I can't even wrap my brain around not seeing him for 2 years!! Our son doesn't skype with us much...probably 3 times since he left 2 months ago. He's living on the ship and I guess they don't have much privacy to skype. For whatever reason he just doesn't want to do it much. I think if we could skype every couple of weeks it would make all the difference in the world to me. We do text some though but not conversation-type texting. Sometimes I'll text him and not hear from him for a few days. I know they are busy and he has to find wifi to text (he has an ipod touch). And you are right, the time difference is really hard. Japan has never been on my bucket list either! Of course, if I get to see him I will definitely go!!
2 years???????????? Ugh. I hate the thought of that. I talk to him regularly and we do text. The time difference is frustrating though. Funny how I don't mind getting woken up anymore. Has anyone made the trip to Japan? It's definitely outside my comfort zone, but I'm starting to get excited about it. Japan has never been on my bucket list.
And davesmom - I feel your pain. Everyone is always commenting on what great adventures he'll have and what a great experience, etc. I'm sure you've heard it all. But it's different being on this side of it. Adam and I have talked about it and he understands how I feel. He has allowed me a few meltdowns and has been understanding. I'm thankful for that. Being able to Skype with him has made all the difference.
welcome jenismer, my son has been there since November, just before Thanksgiving when they returned to port. He's a GSM. We don't hear from him much (at least not as much as i'd like!). Am so glad you joined this group. Don't know when we will get to see our sailor and i'll confess that i'm not handling it all very well. He just graduated from high school in June and left two weeks later! We would love to go and visit him but i'm not sure how you know when they will be in port long enough to go and visit. I still have more questions than answers!
