Has anyone heard from their sailor in the past few days?  I'm wondering if internet is off.

Comment by Elane on June 26, 2013 at 4:01pm

@ jenismer   if you are talking about the google alerts.   put google alerts in your search engine and  hopefully it will come up with a choice to add alerts and then type in what you want alerts on and how often etc.   MAKE sure you put the what you want to be told about in double quotes  that way you won't get stuff that sorta mentions things.  ie:  "USS Antietam".or "USS Antietam (CG 64)"   hope this helps.

How did you do that?  I like it! =)

I've signed up for Google alerts for the ship and this video came across it today, hope the link shows up and maybe someone recognizes a loved one ...

I'm one of the lucky ones.  I Skype with my sailor all the time.  We stay in touch with Voxer, FB, email, and texts.  I hear from him every couple of days.  He admitted that he hides from the camera also.  Cracks me up that both times he's been caught recently have been in the galley.  Too funny.

Hope all is well with everyone.  We FINALLY have some nice weather here.  We had a very long winter - more snow than I care for.

mine refuses to Skype too..OR call me.   occasionally get answers to maybe a 1/3 of the ?'s I ask.   Well says he tried to call me once...with his smart phone, via a data pkg that he got there.. but he says I didn't answer my phone.  Don't know what the issue was... I didn't get any missed calls.

Hi everyone!! Sorry. I don't get on here much. I spend most of my online time on FB. PM me and I'll give you that info. I do pop in here on occasion too. My son hides from that camera on the Ant, I'm convinced! Lol!! I've seen him in one set of photos. Mine won't Skype either, but he calls using Viber every few weeks or so and we chat on FB also. I hope everyone is doing well!!

yes, it's been great that they have taken so many pics to put on the fb page.  I hope they keep doing that.  I have seen my son a couple of times, but I think he tends to hide from the camera, too.  Do many of you Skype with your sailor?  Mine just DOESN'T want to Skype!  I guess it's just too embarrassing to Skype with your parents. I practically begged him to Skype on Mother's Day, but no. I get a text from him every now and then (viber) or a message through FB, but just not much communication.  I know that I'm not the only one that doesn't hear from their sailor much, so that helps.

I was thrilled with the recent pics.  Mine was FINALLY in there.  There have been many many times I thought it was him but it wasn't. He tends to avoid the camera. I thought it was funny that they caught him getting some food.

I've been thinking this group has been awfully quiet.  How is everyone?  I kind of figured we'd get a little more chatty after the go out.  That is if they go out.....
