He has a couple of friends from boot camp that are there and they do love it. We are all very excited for him!

Good! I'm glad he got everything straightened out. Most of the sailors are saying they love Japan.

Jenismer - He is an EN.

He is leaving from Chicago and it is a direct flight to Japan.

Mike's Mom - Thanks for the links. He actually got the info from another source and he set up his reservation for the shuttle bus so he should be set. I appreciate the offer to to meet him too.

Haup9 - the first address is for the base's home page. second link for travel info on getting from Narita to Yokosuka (there is a military shuttle bus and a military liason desk at the airport). http://www.cnic.navy.mil/YOKOSUKA/index.htm , http://www.cnic.navy.mil/Yokosuka/InstallationGuide/GettingHere/ind... . Private me on when his flights are and we could meet him at the airport in Seattle, if he needs anything. We live about 15 minutes from there. This link has phone numbers for Narita: http://www.cnic.navy.mil/Yokosuka/InstallationGuide/GettingHere/Nar.... This one has map of where the military liason is in the airport: http://www.cnic.navy.mil/navycni/groups/public/documents/image/cnic....

Haup 9, did your sailor get to come home for a while before going to Japan?  Hope so!

Comment by davesmom on February 21, 2013 at 9:07pm

My sailor was also on a military flight out of Seattle, but I think it was a commercial airline, but just had military people flying on it.  They flew into an Air Force Base there in Japan, can't remember the name.  He was lucky enough to be in first class on that flight...guess somebody has to be that section!

Haup9 - what is your sailors rate?

Comment by jenismer on February 21, 2013 at 8:36pm

My sailor flew commercial to Seattle, spent the night there (in the USO) then it was a military flight from there.  I can't remember what he called it....... Does he fly to Seattle?

Comment by Haup9 on February 21, 2013 at 8:18pm

DavesMom - Thanks for the info about the bus!

Jenismer - Thanks for the info about the bus as well. That really makes him feel better. He is leaving from Chicago on Saturday. I don't think it is a military flight since it is with a commercial airline but I could be wrong.
