Does he know who his Sponsor will be? If the Sponsor is married, the spouse can usually pick him up. If he does need a ride from the airport, let me know. I will try my best to get him where he needs to be. Is he a single Sailor that will be living in the barracks? or will he be staying in the Navy Lodge while he finds housing?

I wonder who does pick them up when the ship is out to sea... I know that when they are here someone from the ship usually comes to meet them. My husband said he drove around for at least an hour once because when he stopped to ask the guy his name he said the wrong name. I guess it was his first name or a nick name instead of his last name or something, so just make sure that your son says his last name when asked, lol. They usually only know each other by last names.

How long will your son be home? Jenny is correct, a lot depends on when he gets to Hawaii and how much deployment time is left. He should be given information on how to contact someone before he gets to Pearl, they will either meet him at the Airport or once he gets on the base. His contact person will help him get everything in order.

He will certainly be going to Hawaii at the right time of year, anything to avoid a midwestern winter!

They will do one of two things depending on when he gets to the island. If it is near the end of deployment, they might just have him check into Desron everyday. If they still have a good amount of deployment left, they will arrange to have him flown out to one of their ports that they will be stopping at. What is his rate?

My guess is that he will fly out to join them wherever they are at...

I hope someone will take some pics, T knows how I love seeing the pics and want them for scrapbooking. Imagine that an admin error!

Master Chief actually suggested to T that he request orders on the Michael Murphy...you are right he is an amazing man, T speaks very highly of him. T is excited for the opportunity. If my count is correct there are three from the Crommelin going to the Michael Murphy.

We are excited that he will be on the mainland for a few months so we can visit a few times while he is there. Then back to making the Hawaii travel arrangements once a year!
