OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I think that would be a great idea! There is a restaurant called Sea Breeze on Hickam Base that has a really nice view and you can see planes ridiculously close leaving the runway there.

BAH = Basic Allowance for Housing
PCS = Permanent Change of Station (where they are moving)
LES = Leave and Earnings Statement (paycheck)
FRG = Family Readiness Group
MWR = Morale, Welfare, and Recreation
ITT = Information, Tickets, and Tours
PRT = Physical Readiness Test
CO = Commanding Officer
XO = Executive Officer
CMC = Command Master Chief
ERD = Early Return of Dependents
DFAS = Defense Finance and Accounting Service

I know some of those are well known, but others might be helpful. I'm serious about the rides too. If I can help in any way, let me know.

I know!!! It is about time though. My husband has been on the ship for so long now I think that some change will do him some good!

If any of you need rides from the airport or anything like that, let me know and I'll get you taken care of.

I probably will miss it, but that is okay as long as it is a little cheaper to go back home for a visit.

You'll miss that island Sam! San Diego will be just as nice though.

We will be there for homecoming. We were there for T's first homecoming, missed last year. This will most likely be his last homecoming on The Crommelin so we don't want to miss it.

Weddings seem to be a trend in this group....You'll have to post pictures Kathy.

Are any of you planning on coming here for Homecoming?
Comment by Sam on September 30, 2010 at 8:08pm
I am trying to get off this island, lol...
