Our Sailor is home! We are having a great time spending time together as a family and catching up. He is freezing as our temps are in the 20's and lows in the teens. We have had over a foot of snow, it was snowing the day he came home! Sunday we are having our Christmas Dinner, turkey breast, ham, shrimp and crab legs....I think I'll be saying diet on Monday!

Glad you enjoyed time with your Sailor Sheila.

Looking forward to hearing full reports on homecoming and pictures please!!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We will be celebrating Christmas when our Sailor comes home next week. It has been great talking to him everyday since the homecoming.

We have about 8 inches of snow here in Missouri and lots of drifts. Could have used some sailor muscle to help clear the driveway yesterday.

I am sure you are all counting the minutes until you see your sailors... once the news media starts reporting all is fair to post about... I am so excited for one and all!

Be careful about talking about exact days and movements... you never know who is reading these notes! Welcome home Crommelin!

I'm hoping for that phone to ring as well. I always miss our sailor on the holidays the most.

I am sure that our sailors are anxious to get back to their home port in just a couple of weeks plus a few days. They are cold....can you imagine that...55 degrees and they are freezing!

YM give my sailor a hug too and have a wonderful trip.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Thanks for sharing Sheila. Great sign and picture!

Heard they have heard that the Crommelin will be decommission in the year 2012. I told my husband that I am going to start saving like crazy so I can be at the homecoming next deployment as it may be the last for that ship.

I got a job offer today so I may be going back to work soon!!!! Yeah! (That will help with saving for that Hawaii trip)
We are heading to Branson for the weekend with our daughter, looking forward to doing some relaxing and shopping and taking in a couple of shows.

Sheila, I'm going to send you a copy of the email from the Ombudsman. I'll try to post a picture of the last homecoming banner. Basically you decorate a pillowcase for your sailor. Last homecoming my mom made the pillowcase from fabric to match a quilt she had made earlier and I did the rest. I had some fabric that had a world map on it so I embordried their deployment route as used iron on letters to write out Welcome Home,,,,etc...
It was a shame as out of 230 sailors there were less than 35 pillowcases in the banner......
I'm going to try to get one made this week....just need to get a good idea going in my head......maybe something with cross anchors this year.
Our sailor has several tatoos as well, a cross on him upper arm, Matthew 6:34 on his back between his shoulder blades and two swallows on his chest....he has plans for more. I'm like you I don't really care for the tatoos but I love him just the same.

Are you ladies doing a pillowcase for the homecoming banner? I'm trying to think of a cool design for this year. Haven't thought of anything creative yet.

Does Yankee know you are coming yet? What dates are you going to be there?
