Samantha........Congrats to your hubby!!!!!  "T" called, he was excited that your T made BM2.  How are you feeling?  What is the offical due date?

Lauren, unfortunately "T" won't be there much past cold weather, I would love to visit Maine in the summer!  We have a nephew in New Hampshire, we have visited there at Christmas time and it was much colder and more snow than in Missouri.  Oh the places we go just to see our Sailors!

Hope your sailor gets to come home on leave sometime this summer.

Hopefully the storms will bypass us tonight.

jleigh58, I guess that your son is in the same division as our son!  My son picked your son up at the airport and helped him get checked in aboard the Crommelin.

Let your son know that the first few weeks are the worst aboard a new ship, it gets better with time!

All this talk about trips to Hawaii makes me jealous that we will not be going back to Hawaii for at least another year.  Next trip will most likely be to San Diego in October, then Maine sometime in the cold of winter!

Have a great day everyone.

Welcome aboard jleigh58!  The Crommelin ohana is growing!  Our son has been on the Crommelin for almost four years and will be leaving mid July.  He is a BM2, Boatswain Mate 2nd class.

Your son will love Hawaii, plan a trip when you can.

Greetings from Kansas- I'm new at this-just saw my son off on Thursday- it finally hit me yesterday, and I cried all day! I'm interested in knowing what life will be like for him aboard the Crommelin.

We have escaped being hit by any bad weather.  So far it has been 60 miles to the west and a couple of hours south of us was hit really bad, the death count is near 100.

More storms are expected today and tomorrow.  Hopefully they will not be severe and pass on over without any further damage.

thank you for the welcome!!  My son is an OS and we are from Chicago area, IL.  He loves Hawaii and we are enjoying living through his photos.  Still hasn't sunk in totally, probably in a little while since the longest we went without seeing him was boot camp.  We saw him every other weekend through A school.

Sure, I'm sure I will shed some tears!

Passed that BIG 5-0 a couple years ago.....now what is there to look forward except retirement!!  "T" keeps telling us to sell the house and move to Hawaii and live with him.....he'll help us out with his BAH!!!!  I told him I thought if he invited us to live with him that meant he pays and we help out!  LOL

How is your area recovering?  So far we have had no bad storms this spring but today our expected high is 94 degrees!!!

The USS Michael Murphy is becoming more of a reality each day.  Can't believe how fast the time is going by, "T" will be transfering soon.  Ship is expected to be in Hawaii sometime around June 2012, he has already asked if we will come over to see them come into the harbor.  Guess we'd better start saving some more money!

Heard Yankee found a new place.

Welcome aboard!  What rate is your son?  Our son just reenlisted for four years.  He has been in Hawaii for almost 4 years.  Yankee's mom is right if you haven't been to Hawaii now is your chance.

Hope your sailor enjoys his time on The Crommelin.
