Hey JD's mom I think I found you and sent you a friend request on facebook. If you get a request from a Kathy its me. To the few of us on this site I read ever post but rarely comment.. I love just hearing from everyone. My son joined the ship in Dec. He doesnt have a specific job per say that I know of at least (he was out ranked for his a school of Mass Communication after bootcamp so went undesignated) He did that cause he didnt want to do anything else. I think after a year he can request the school again. He purchased a cell phone from there when he arrived and while he was in port we never had any problems talking with him (as far as dropped calls or anything like that). He lives on the ship but as far as I know he never tried the internet from on ship. He always went to the restraunt area to use the free internet there. The connection was always good there. I have really been missing him alot lately. His last call was over three weeks ago. He called from the ship they were out at sea but close enough to shore to get a signal. He was working at the time and it was hard to hear him but still great. Gotta take what we can get when we get it. Anyone else hear from there sailors while out at sea, just curious. I sent one care package to himover a month ago and when he called the last time he asked us to send his tennis shoes not sure why im sure he has them already but we sent them. We had talked about going to Japan to see him at christmas time if they are in port but he says he would rather come home. I have the USS Denver on my facebook but if anyone knows of other goood ones to follow let me know. Thanks for the support everyone.
Sending Tiger a digital care package... loading up a memory card with a video message, along with some music and a few pictures. Never realized how hard it is to find 4gb worth of data... LOL!
My "Tiger" was out there from May 'til almost New Year's when he got to come home for about 10 days... I have to agree with the confidence boost. He held himself a little higher, and treated everyone with the same respect given to him. (Well, he's always done that, but it was a lot more apparent.) At the same time, he could still be the same ol' goofball he's always been, which is why I fell for him in the first place.
Hope I hear from him soon... got in contact with another MM, and he says the luck-of-the-draw for an internet connection out there has prevented Tiger from getting online for more than a few seconds at a time. Very frustrating, but the fellow sailor says that he'll find some sort of punishment for my baby in the meantime, LOL!
Even if it's a small group, happy to join this... My boyfriend has been on the Denver since last May, and it'll be good to hear from others about their experiences.
He arrived yesterday and was able to facetime us briefly! The connection was bad, so we got disconnected several times, but so good to see and hear from him! Is there another Japan mom's site to go to? Not too many people on this site! haha
