I cannont fatham a family not sending caring sentiments from home to their sailor.  It brings tears to my eyes too!

 

Below Im sharing part of an email that I recieved from my son:

ATA Kristian Watkins Wrote: I got both my packages, one right after the other. Everyone was surrounding me trying to see what I got!  They've been awesome!  We had a shop movie night, and I felt that it would only be right to share some of my candy during the movie night...... All my candy was gone in like 10 minutes (there are a lot of us).

That brings tears to my eyes thinking of those young men and women with no support from home.  I'm sure it's hard enough for our kids who do have that.  I will be speaking to my son about paying attention to this and sharing.

I have sent a package on 3/3 and so far my husband has not gotten anything yet. I am hoping it was not lost in the mail. But when I did talk with him he said that it takes about a month for the packages to get to them so who knows. If it was lost everything in it is replaceable I just might have to send out another one.

I sent a package on 2/15, the day the ship left and my sailor didn't receive it until just days ago, I believe on 3/31. He said it was super smooshed. But he got it and everything inside was intact. I think things just get lost in the mail with it going so far.

I contacted one of the chaplins aboard The Bush explaining my wish to send cards that they can give out to those they know needs a word of support.  Here is the chaplin's address:

I use a large, padded envelope (cards in a plastic bag to help water-proof it) is what I've used to send many cards at once to this chaplin.

My son has sailors in his section who never get anything from home, no packages, no letters, nothing.  I just don't understand how a family can turn their backs on these poor individuals.

It makes me crazy.  My son asked me if could help cheer them up.  I have been sending lots of extra goodies and I hope it helps.  Nothing worse than being thousands of miles away from home and feeling like no one cares.

On another note, since it was mentioned - I belong to the "Molly's Adopt a Sailor". Every month a deployed group, regardless of the branch of service, is adopted and receives lots of boxes of goodies.

Taking care of those who don't have anyone to support them is how this group got started.  Check it out if you have the chance.

Doesn't seem to be any method to the way or when they get there. Glad he did finally get them.

I sent my son two boxes on February 20, he didn't recive then until march 19.
