I have the best job! I recently asked my boss for permission to wear my RED Friday shirt to the office on Friday's during deployment. He had never heard of RED Friday, so after I explained it to him, he said he was perfectly fine with it. The nest day, he told me that after he thought more about it, he decided to buy shirts for all the office staff and the Dr's to wear on Fridays. I was completely overwhelmed! However, the day after I distributed the shirts, we got a new employee. Sooo, if I can get enough interest, I will be taking one last and final order....again. If anyone is interested, please let me know within the next few days. Contact me at ignitespiritbows@yahoo.com, or on here.  I look forward to reading everyone's posts again over the next several months. Here we go....

Last chance to order the RED Friday shirts, if anyone wants to, or knows someone else who does. I will be finalizing the order tomorrow evening, so I can get them shipped out in time for deployment. (And stop bugging everyone) :) I hope those who have received their shirts from the first batch enjoy them. I know I can't wait to start wearing it.

Hello GHWB family. I pray you have all had a good Christmas and visit with your sailor, if you were able to have them with you. Mine is home and it's been a great week. He got to see the RED Friday shirts and thinks they are pretty cool. He always says it's a great moral booster to know that while they are gone, families back home support them that way. I hope everyone has their shirts by now. I tried my best to get them to everyone by Christmas, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate when she dropped all the ice on us, so some may still be on their way. I had someone forget to order and really wants one, so I am going to do a quick turn order and have them shipped out before deployment. If anyone didn't get a chance to order one, and would like to, please get ahold of me at ignitespiritbows@yahoo.com ASAP.

I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi my3sons73,

Welcome to the group!

While I understand your frustration, I can say that article does not mention specifics. It does list some general comments like "about the time" and "close to eight months" but there are no specifics other than where they will be going. It is a Norfolk based carrier so everyone knows where those carriers deploy, that's no secret.

We can't control what other sites or people do but we can do out part here to keep your loved ones safe as they can be under the circumstances.

Im a mom of a sailor on the Bush I'm just curious if anyone else follows a FB page called American Military News? I don't understand why OPSEC is even mentioned on this website when clearly what when and whereabouts of Bush is plastered all over Facebook. I have to say honestly it pissed me off. The article names specificly how long and whereabouts the Bush will be and when it's going to deploy right there on Facebook. I just thought the Navy wouldn't want that advertised but I guessed wrong. Anyway I guess now I know it's an 8mth deployment not 6 like my son originally told me a while back.

I am still here, usually don't have time to reply but do read all the posts.

Hi ladies, my son was able to come home for 16 days in early November. I enjoyed his visit home even though I was very sick for half of it. I feel bad because I couldn't cook many of his favorites because I was so sick. I sure hope he had a nice visit home.

Wow what a continued amazing family we have on the Bush. My Sailor is currently with all your Sailor's on this last step before deployment. My Sailor is looking at coming home when his 4 yr term is over as his Father past this past July, it is never easy losing a parent and especially not being there as it was sudden. We have always supported our Sailor and prayed his journey would always be positive as it has been. With our sailors term being completed in March I'm not sure if deployment is where our Sailor will go, but if it is I'm here to continue to support not only our Sailor but also yours.

I said "mom" but you don't need to be a mom...a wife would work also. :) Let me know if you're interested.

Comment by Dad of Sailor on December 5, 2016 at 12:41am

Hi ladies! It seems like a long time since we were all here supporting each other during the last deployment. I know you're all getting anxious as the next deployment nears.

My son is no longer on the Bush, or in the Navy for that matter. I'd like to find an involved and positive mom to act as an admin of this group during the upcoming deployment. If you're interested please message me so I can see about getting someone setup.

Hope you all are doing well and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any Navy questions.
