sharon-did you get up with the chickens? off to bed at 4 pm?  here's another Cava....sweet dreams!

seeing that picture of the latest port is killing me!! i know there will be ports he will see eventually but this one....oh my my!!!

wow thanks mommas for all the information!!!  he actually told me that there is some sort of deal about the lease and the being deployed issue which made no sense to me but i wasn't considering the "area" and how things would work differently.  he has lived on his own and managed ok....it's been a loooong time since we have had to "help out with his financial situation". and just like we did...we all learned by jumping right into the water and learning to "swim" on our own eventually!

ME the picture is gorgeous....in honor of porting in Spain i think we should toast the Sailors with a lovely glass of Cava, Spain´s equivalent to champagne!

I'm really getting a refresher on my geography! Looked at lots of maps lately to figure out where they were/are! Exciting that they have made port again!

Connie(Memphis Belle) My son surprised me by getting his rent paid/taken out of checking while gone, finding storage for his car (its his baby), getting insurance(bowl me over! Ha), & contacting the cell phone company & explaining that he would be deployed. They shut off his phone on a date he picked after he left and will start it when he returns & contacts them. He doesn't have to pay for the phone while out! I told him "He was sooo grown up now!" Wow, they do surprise us!

oh no not at all....worrying my self sick is one of my biggest challenges.  when Sailor Son left here to drive to Oceana (now that really was some thing to worry about since he had NEVER driven that far before) should have proven to me that i NEED TO GET A GRIP!!!  he encountered NO problems.....not one single itty bitty hiccup on his drive.  so your Sailor is a "tighwad"....oh to be in your shoes for one pay period!!! i call my Sailor lovingly, "Sailor JingleBritches" because that's ALL he's got....loose change.

hahaha Sharon-"borrowing trouble" is my middle name!!  you are soooo right. i can hardly focus on today for worrying needlessly about the future.  thanks for the "wake up call".

thanks for the "living off the ship or not" input.  he says he won't pursue this idea until after Dec. i just don't see how this would work...what happens during deployment?  how do you pay the rent when you're gone and what happens if the lease is up and you can't renew the lease? i can think of a hundred or so things going wrong if you aren't in a place with some one you can really trust to "have your back".

Irish Cindy-love the username!!!

CeeCee, I never knew how much a 6 minute phone call could make my entire day so much better, haha! I'm surprised they ported so soon as well. I wonder if it will be like that the whole deployment? He said they were all in their PT gear swimming in the ocean looking at the mountains in one direction and the aircraft carrier in the other haha. Sounds like they're having a blast :)

LOL @ Brittany.....it's exciting isn't it? Can't believe they ported again so soon!!
