My son was stationed on a base, just before deployment, he moved into a house with two other sailors. They share the rent and it works out great for all of them!! He is a little ways from base but likes it much better than the little barrack room he was sharing!

Colleen...........GOOD LUCK!!!

Irish Cindy....I hear ya on the too many Cindys LMAO That's why I go by CeeCee or one of the reasons LOL

My son got an apartment after living on the ship for awhile. Gives them time away from "work". He rents with another man from the ship and it has worked out really well for them. They need that extra space to themselves after only having a small berth to live in. (my opinion). :) They do live a little ways from the ship areas bc of better neighborhoods.

Connie, my son lived on the ship because it was easier & cheaper for him. He doesn't have a car. When he gets back he plans to do something different about his living situation. He threw around a couple a different ideas, rent apartment alone, with someone else, live in the RV park (my favorite, (teehee). He's young & and without family - so who knows!!

First he will need learn how to hold on to his money. Before they left, his money was burning a hole in his pocket, he would spend it almost as fast as he got it.

I hope this helps answer you question

Great job on the pillowcase!

I'm also so glad that they are taking the tours, our sons get to see things that I'll never see....It's a wonderful and exciting experience for them and they are doing their jobs too!!! That's awesome!!! The Bushes facebook page posted today that they went through the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean.....saw Spain on one side and Morocco on the other......totally awesome!

CeeCee

That is so great the your son got his package on time! I think they got to go on tours if they wanted while they were in port. Isn't it exciting that our sons can be there and see what they did?!

thanks...every pc a labor of love!!!

ME-i got recipes from my Sailor's granny's recipe and will get my recipe together and get it all emailed as soon as i can.  do you know if there is a deadline for submissions?

Annette or everyone-this "living" on the Bush thing.  my Sailor is still in Oceana and is to report to Norfolk and the Bush on or about 9-14.  of course i have every thing i've got crossed that he will be sent out to join the Bush.  but he's talking about getting an apartment when the Bush returns.  this sounds like an awful complicated mess to me.....won't they be on a 6 month deployment schedule?  if i have broken any of "those rules" by asking the question then just give me a shout out and i will delete this post.  still learning here.

Bed Bugs...not good!!! My son has lived on the ship since getting to Norfolk, May 2010. He has been home 3 times, and never said anything about bed bugs, and he never bought any home with him. Hope they get rid of them soon!!!
