Oh CeeCee .. I am sorry you're having a rough time with your son.  Sounds like you are hearing only words of wisdom here.

You know, Derrick is very communicative -- sometimes to the point that I put my fingers in my ears and go lalalalalalalalalallalala ...TMI.  LOL   But, good grief, Trevor (my Airman) is like Gary Friggin Cooper.  It's like he has to "pay by the syllable"   I swear, one conversation went like this:

"Hi Mom" -- "Hi Trev!!!! I'm so glad you called!!! How are you?"

"Fine"

"What's been going on?"

"Nothing"

"How's the weather there?"

"Sucks"

"We finished painting your room, you'll really like it!!"

"Good" [crickets]

"Trev... do you want to know how we are?"

"Yes [giggle]"

"We're fine ..."

"Good"

We laugh about it with him, but it's just his personality.  I did have to have a gentle heart-to-heart with him about never calling, responding to emails, and the way he was answering his phone when he did pick up.  We agreed, he would call on birthdays and all national holidays, and if it was a bad time to talk he would simply say so instead acting like he had been raised in a barn.  LOL

Hope you feel better soon sweetie -- A

He'll be 21 two weeks from Wednesday. I just don't know what to say in my email anymore that he would want to hear......we kinda had the same thing happen ILNavyMom but much MUCH more complicated. Thought we had it straightened out but I guess I was mistaken!!

Ceecee, I'm sure things will get better with time. as for the hardest job in the Navy...being a Navy husband is pretty tough too, but it doesn't beat a parent. I'm gonna keep you in my prayers.

CeeCee - How old is your son?  Maybe it's just a phase.  Two days before we left our daughter in Norfolk we got into a big argument.  The next day, our last day with her, we hardly spent any time with her at all.  It sucked.  Before we left we did hug and say we loved each other but I didn't feel as close to her as I wanted to.  I guess I was holding back a little because she hurt my feelings and I wanted an apology.  We email now and everything is okay, but I'm still waiting for my apology.  I decided to writer her a letter to tell her how I feel about what happened, but I'm not going to send it.  I figure she has enough to think about right now.  I'm going to stick it in her desk drawer here and the next time she's home, whenever that is, she can read it.  Maybe with the days that pass she'll mature enough to understand where I'm coming from.  Maybe you can write your son a letter and let him read it later.  It's just an idea.

Keep your chin up though.  And go ahead and send your emails.  He loves you.  :)

ceecee, i totally feel you.  my daughter is the same way, just wants to give orders and/or bitch.  i just keep sending emails daily and occasionally i raise the bs flag on an email and tell her how i feel.  things even out for a bit then back to "normal."  i got a ship-to-shore card and sent her the info, will be interesting to see if i hear from her.

just hang in there

I would LOVE IT if he just told me things like that but I GET NOTHING!! I don't even know how he's doing except that he feels like it's going to be a long cruise!!! That's IT!!

Regarding emails, if they are using a public machine, they may be waiting in line for quite awhile and then anxious to type fast because everyone in line behind them is doing the quiet shuffle (a/k/a hurry-up I have to get back to work in a few minutes).  Putting thoughts together in that scenario can be intimidating for many.  But this sure beats several years ago when standard postage was the only method of communication.  Thougts and answers always seemed to pass in the mail.  Talk about disjointed conversation -that epitomized it.  Keep the faith and don't stop writing.  The time spent reading {and re-reading} your thoughts is of more meaning to them, and they are the ones potentially homesick.

morning annie......glad you heard from your USAF son.....always good to hear from them.

Not doing well this morning, there is no personality in my son's VERY SHORT REPLIES to my emails. I'm trying to decide whether I should just stop emailing him.....see if he emails us....he doesn't seem to be interested in anything I say and doesn't really respond to anything. I know he has a ship to shore card but doesn't seem to want to talk to us because he hasn't called. Apparently, we aren't important to him anymore.....the only person he does call is someone I don't trust and she'll NEVER tell me anything.....plain and simple, I'm worried and can't seem to get over it...I don't want to stress him out but I'm going to make myself sick over this.......as I said, not doing well and it's not a good day!! and I don't know how I can shake it........only if he'd call so we can actually talk but I don't see that happening! Oh well, sorry to be a debbie downer....Have a great day!

Good morning ladies! I can't keep up with all the posts here! This place is really hopping!!

Just thought I'd let you know that even though Derrick is out of the Navy and "home," I had more contact with him when he was in VA.  LOL  ... he hugged and kissed me goodbye last Monday, and I haven't heard a peep, except I know he stopped by to shower and pick up some things here while we were at work on Tuesday.

We did get a call at 5am (later than the usual 3am ones) from USAF son Trevor this morning (in So.Korea).  We sure do love hearing from him, no matter what time of day/night.  Sounds like HAE may be able to do a PC project for his "group" in the near future, so I am buying material and gearing up for it.

Cindy, Connie, CeeCee, Sharon -- hope all is well with you guys.  I made a BIG pot of coffee this morning to share with all of you ladies here.  I know how hard the morning after is after throwing those margaritas back!

((((HUGS)))) to all of you Navy Moms/Wives/Sisters/Daughters here!! xox
