Hi Moms and Wifes of the Bush,

I was so happy to find a group for my sons ship, This is our 1st deployment and reading the chatter on here everyday definately helps my seperation anxiety alot.My son does email everyday but I get more info from you than him.LOL.

I told him I was getting ready to send a package and asked if there was anything he would like he said baby wipes,I never would have thought of that(I guess they steal the toilet paper too). And beef jerky cuz it will keep for a long time.

We are coming to Va  to see the ship come in also, Would love to be included if the families are getting together!

Here's a message ME sent me from one of the sailors........

Dear, Mrs. Cindy XXXXXX
thank you kindly for the lovely pillow case that you so meticulously
crafted.  It’s nice to know that there are so many caring people like yourself
who are grateful for the service and sacrifice that our young men and women make
for the love of country.  Your heartfelt gesture along with your thoughts and
prayers will go a long way to help ease the burden of this lengthy separation
that we are about to endure from family, friends and love ones.  Now, we can
rest assured as we settle down at night from a hard days work that we will relax
in comfort and be surrounded by the essence of love.  Thanks again.  God
Blessing to you and all who dare to believe!

V/r,

CWO5

Janae' what a great idea....if only "we" were put in charge for like a day or two....we'd have those "thieving ones" caught, their bags set out on the roadside and wish them luck 'cos you're not needed in the Navy now! i see it has a two fold solution....thieving problem solved and maybe the Navy won't be as "over-manned"!!!! HA!

Connie, you are very welcome. I think they need to hire more people to do security so each person can have their own section to watch.

After reading all of this, I can see why my son wanted to move off base....he moved off the week before we got down there...and now his truck is stored in the garage of the house where he lives with a couple other "trusted" friend sailors!! Guess he's pretty smart! LOL
Comment by Connie(Memphis Belle) on May 15, 2011 at 7:22pm

thanks Janae' for all of your help.  i will definitely get him to work on setting this up at the NEX on Norfolk!!

Colleen you are so right...."from all walks of life" and i am wondering if the Navy is doing some thing about the problem?...proactive is what i mean.

I was shocked as well when he was telling me all about the theft on base and on the ship. About 3 weeks ago my boyfriend's car was broken into and somebody attempted to steal the cd player out of it. Luckily, whoever attempted to do it wasn't successful because only a few wires were cut. It's pretty ridiculous this is even an issue especially on a naval base.
