that's horrible...I hope they find his kindle and the person who stole it.....I can't believe how people could do this to their fellow shipmates....it's unforgiveable!! My son has told me he know how it is and he definitely keeps his stuff locked up!! Thankfully!! So sorry Tracy!

Hopefully my sailor has learned his lesson about leaving his belongings lying around... When he was in a school someone went in his room and stole his debit card out of his wallet and then got 600 from an ATM.... We think it was a close friend of his who may have seen him put his pin in before but we never found out who it was.... It's like you can't really trust anyone because someone will take advantage.

Tracy-it makes me madder than a wet hen this thievery!!! my Sailor told me about a special chit you can get on some of the more expensive items that they have like his laptop. this was when he was in Pensacola. i am wondering if they can get this special chit while they are assigned to the Bush. my Sailor told me that if his laptop was stolen there would be a massive search for it. i am so sorry your Sailor has had his belongings stolen.....arrrrgh i wanna thump heads and pull some ears!!!

there is a group on here for care packages:

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/carepackageideas

check it out.

jill, my daughter's email is the first 6 of her last name plus her first and middle name initials, i don't know what you would do with a short last name (i.e. smith) or no middle name

jilllorraine....my son was on the ship when they were out for a month in January/February......it takes about a week before they get everything done and set up so it will be a little while if he wasn't on the ship previously. Mine was so I already knew what his address was.......i saw somewhere on here the format of their email address....maybe search back and then try to send one...see if it works but as I said, it usually takes at least a week. :-(

yes the flat rate boxes are great....I thought about sending detergent/dryer sheets...I saw that that's what he was using when we were down in Virginia...it's the ones with detergent and fabric softener all in one....can't remember the name though

I was also planning on the stationary....and beef jerky....my son loves that and it lasts a long time as long as it's sealed!! Don't the cookies get stale, not knowing how long it will take for them to get it?

Speaking of care packages, I definitely want to send one but I have no idea what to put in them since I've never sent one before. Anybody care to share ideas of what to include? Thanks!
