Hi everyone!  Hope you all are having a wonderful day.  This is my first deployment and I'm doing surprisingly well.  I travel a lot for work and I'm not sure if it hasn't hit me yet that I won't see him after 5 days or if he did a great job of preparing me for this deployment.

I had a question for those who have experienced a deployment before.  How often do they receive mail?  I know there is a delay (sometimes weeks), but do they get it once a week, every two weeks, so on? Thanks for your answers.

Welcome all newcomers.......those planning the cookout.....count me in....I'll bring balloons.....thanks for the reminder marianne!

Ok, who'd I miss.......I was thinking of Xing off days from deployment date...guess I shouldn't do that?

I would like to share a story with you all.   My son George has been on this ship from the very beginning he is in Four yrs so excited to be going out to sea now.

So it has been a long time for him stuck in Norfolk but it has been nice becuz it is only 14 hrs away and got to see him alot.     But the story goes that a friend of his joined the navy went through boot camp and a signed to the Bush they have been buddies since they were three now that get to do this together.  Life is good

Postcards-NEVER thought about that!!  what a wonderful idea!!!!

well that's what i thought....no conversation about where they will port.  so i guess too my idea of posting their pics they send to us showing where they are won't work either....or maybe we can do that when they get back....share their stories and pictures?

Cindy-soooo "with ya"....so so excited for Sailor Son to GET ON THE BOAT and start this adventure!! he can't wait and neither can i!!!
