Well my son just said, he hasn't heard anything about the time they leave.....and Annie....I'm not sure if they televise it or not, just going by what some others have said on here.....There will probably be something on the Bushes facebook page AFTER they leave

@Connie - Love the PC - it is really cool!! I know he'll be proud of that.

I didn't know they televise the ships leaving - but I would not be happy at all if we had made plans to go to VA to see them off.  Hopefully, the Sailors will pass along the info to their loved ones, if that is their plan.

Annie-that was me certainly having a "moment"...i am laughing at me too!!!  as you might can tell i love love love making fun of myself!

gosh the more i think about it....i wonder how many loved ones who have seen on tv ships deploying and who at this very moment are making their way to Norfolk thinking they are going to see the Bush off. BUMMER!!!

btw i finally got the pillowcase pic off my phone....here's the one i made that he will take to the Bush.

ME I'm soooo sorry to hear that.....I would be totally disappointed to if I would have stayed to watch it deploy. So I take it that if they're avoiding the media blitz that there won't be anything on TV so we can watch.....very disappointing indeed!!!

Just an FYI re seeing your Sailors / military off at the airports:

Ordinarily, you have to say goodbye before they go through security, but if they have written orders, show those to airport personnel at ticket counter and most airports will give you a pass to sit with them until they board the plane.  We did this when Derrick left for Germany, and again when my Airman Trevor left for So.Korea.  Sure beats dumping them curbside.

@Connie - I don't think you are going to live that down any time soon LOL!

@navywife - attagirl!! I know everyone close enough and involved is appreciating that info.

hey mommas!  cindy i KNEW you'd notice my "britches" remark!!!

ok so no "real" send off for the Bush....no manning the rails.  BUT if any one gets any info about the return of the Bush and where you go to see it come in (if allowed) please post what you find out.  i am planning for Dad to be on the docks waiting for his son's return and i like to plan ahead as soon as possible.

Hey ladies. I am new to the group. My husband is an ABE on board the Bush. I have noticed a few of you are upset about not being able to see the ship leave. My hubby and I have talked about it, and the Capt is making them leave early early in the morning (your sailor should be able to tell you the time) because he wants to avoid the media blitz. The media makes it awful hard for them to get things done and get the ship out to sea. Norfolk isn't really the best place to watch the ship leave. If you go to the other side of the HRBT tunnel and go on to Fort Monroe and you can see the ship sail right past you. If you can get on the base (which shouldn't be an issue with ID, registration and insurance, oh and opening door on your car) just drive past all the docked boats and you can drive basically right out to the water. The ship goes right through the HRBT and right past Monroe. I took my kids several times to see daddy come home from an underway and you can see the ship right up close. So if that is what you are trying to do head to Ft Monroe. But keep in mind opening everything up takes time so plan to get there a while before the ship is ready to leave so you don't miss it.

My hubby said they most likely won't be manning the rails so don't be disappointed if they are not.

Oh ME - I am so sorry.  That really stinks.  I say grab a sailor on the street and say he's your's and on the way to the Bush.  I'll vouch for you - give them my number!
