Annie & Collen thanks for the great ideas for care packages & thanks so much for the info about shipping.

I use Pringle cans  to send cookies, that way they aren't broken & smashed when my son receives them.

thanks again for all the help & everything you do for the sailors!

Hi Shirley - yes he was! From 2/08 - 10/09. Are you in So.California?

WOW - it sure is BIG - thanks for the pix CeeCee!  I'm so glad you had a good time and made it home safely.

Here's a little care pkg idea for you guys - you can buy packages of small bottles of tabasco/bbq sauce/salsa,etc - I bought several at Pier One/Smart & Final and kept them at home to include a few in the boys' care pkgs to spice the food up.  You just need to put them in a plastic zip lock, squeeze the air out, and then bubble wrap.  Mine never broke -- just in case tho.

Tostitos used to make an individual pkg of chips/salsa that worked well too.  Don't know if that's still around. Pringles are good too b/c they are protected in the cylinder.  And, last but not least, brownies - they ship/store well.

Thanks Annie! Well, IT'S A BIG SHIP!!! LOL We only saw the flight deck and one deck below........It appears as if life will be good for them, not like home but good. vending machines, starbuck's, meals were being served when we were there and it smelled good....but son says it has no flavor LOL

Racks are small....not much space for extras so keep that in mind when sending care packages.....top racks have two small lockers.....middle and lower have space under mattress and one small locker for uniforms. Tight quarters all around! They have an ATM on the ship so they have access to their accounts for cash, etc. It was very chilly in the sleeping quarters and really all around so my son purchases and additional blanket to take with him. Make sure your sailors have locks to lock their lockers and the ones with middle and lower racks can lock their storage under the mattress.

It was pretty amazing....and from the flight deck, it's a LONG way down to the water!!! I took lots of pictures but not sure which ones I can post...but will post a few.

this is a picture of their racks

from the flight deck...that's a little dingy in the water...look how small it looks

one end of the flight deck to the other

Good Morning Ladies!  Happy Mother's Day to all of you.

Cee Cee - You're B-A-C-K!!! Welcome home! Can you tell us about the tour?

I've been shopping for more PC material, and quilt stuff.  I don't know what I am going to do when all the stuff comes in.  Me, coffee, credit card and the computer in a quiet house are a dangerous combination.  I even found some quilting classes I want to take ... in upper Washington State and El Cajon (3hrs away). I need to win the lottery and retire.
