My son left tuesday to go back to the ship he has been on the bush from the very beginning. I can't stop crying he is such a great man he has one more year.
May god bless them all and keep them safe see you all in Dec. when they come home can't wait to see him hug him !!! May god be with all of you
OMG .. You guys have done a fabulous job - thank you!!
Navy moms love their sailors, their own, and everyone else's!! God bless them all, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I am starting to sound like a nut. Need to get ready for work, but will be checking in for pix -- does Lou have any that can be posted?
Great Job Colleen, Maryellen, Sarah and Danielle!! It was great meeting you on Tuesday! Have a great time today and give them sailors extra hugs. My son is off today and tomorrow morning, has to stand watch tomorrow afternoon. and then off on Saturday....he will be packing to get ready to report to the Bush on Monday. We will be leaving for home on Saturday sometime.......I really don't want to go but have no choice.
All you ladies that are going to be there to see the ship off, have a great time and take lots of tissues...........wishing I was going to be there! I'll be giving my goodbyes and tears on Saturday....really don't want that day to come! :-(
good evening ladies (or should i say good morning),
tonite after work i drove up here to norfolk and met some great new friends, jen, colleen and my twin from another mother, mary ellen! i heard that raspy voice, walked into the conference room and there she was, sitting behind a sewing machine!
they were busy sewing more pillowcases and some young sailors were loading up boxes of pillowcases. it was something i had been reading about for months and talking to maryellen about on the phone (amongst a million other things) and now i was there! it was a great feeling to walk into that room.
they are still short on pillowcases but they did their ABSOLUTE BEST to try and reach the goal. with a wing and a prayer they will meet that goal soon!
maryellen said the folks, especially the assistant manager (a very nice looking young man but my old ass can't remember his name) and been very, very accommodating and helping in any way possible. maryellen went to get a cup of high test coffee (as my mom called strong caffeinated coffee) and it was empty. she picked the pot up and gave him those puppy dog eyes and he gave her a fresh thermos almost immediately (he said he was anticipating her needs). it was heartwarming to see. he later told us about the fact that he was on the destroyer that launched the first missals against iraq
well, i am off to bed, meeting up with the ladies in the morning to go to the ship to pass out these wonderful gifts for our sailors.
GREAT JOB LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
carol
Cindy-just got your message and will relay the info!! he will love this!!! had to run out for non acetone fingernail polish remover to tackle that ink inside the dryer...here's hoping it works or "somebody" is gonna get BRAINED over this one!!!
sharon-glad to share it with you!!! let's get all these fishing buddies together!!!
oh so glad you asked!! i started praying this for our son before we "got" him....and you can probably figure out what i mean. it just brings tears to my eyes even thinking about it.
"I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD."
AND he just called...his voice is so full of excitement i can hardly stand it!!! he passed a sign that said some thing about a place to stop for a beautiful view but he missed the turn off. i told him "son you are going to be in the area for quite a while and will have lots of opportunities to go back to see it". we talked further about all the wonderful things he is about to see and experience. i am about to jump out of my skin i am so excited for him.....my blonde headed blue eyed baby boy!!! he wants to catch his first "Atlantic" fish!! oh i could go on and on and bore the socks off of every one!!!
hello again Mommas!! my Sailor is less than 200 miles away headed to Oceana. he called a little while ago and he is so excited. as he pulled out of the driveway yesterday morning i prayed Hannah's prayer for him once again as i have often done. he has his very own pillowcase that i made for him when he joins up the Bush in a couple of months. and oh btw....i know the "rules" get tighter and tighter the further they are along in the Navy so if i make a mistake on any info that i post please please let me know!!!!
annie-thanks for the advice on the rack pack monogram. i had already been advised that things often mysteriously "disappear".
hey sweet Cindy!!!!
@Peggy - it's "navyrackpacks.com" - but make sure the USS Bush allows them, and if it does, I would strongly suggest that you have your sailor's name embroidered on, so it doesn't get rack-pack-napped.
Sharon, Cindy, CeeCee, ME, Colleen - THIS IS TOO EXCITING!! Love you guys!!!
