You do have a Brother Project Runway, right?here's a picture of mine.....the top row is from 00-09, you need to select 06 or 07 for overcast stitch with the G foot.

#06 and #07?  I don't understand, and don't see in the manual.

But I use #06 and #07, was using 07 but that tends to bunch up thin fabric so I changed to 06 and does much better.....only have a few strings to trim but yes, it zigzags, and seams and cleans up the frays pretty darn well......LOVE IT!! I did move my stitch length (or maybe width, bottom choice) to 5.0 so the stitches go a little farther into the material and not so close to the edge. But works very well, as I said, only a few frays to trim and really, not much to worry about. PS the 06 sews much faster tha 07, so I'm sewing the rest with 06!!!

Cee Cee - I know I already asked ME to marry me after she said we didn't have to iron ... she did accept.  But .... if you have told me I can use the G foot and the stitch option on the far right of the top row .... and that trims, zigzags, and seams ALL IN ONE ... WILL YOU MARRY ME TOO???!  (Sorry ME     :P )

Also, love the room snack suggestion for Connie - seems like Derrick would sometimes complain that the galley would close at P-cola before his class was done.  So a stash of anything that doesn't have to be refrigerated is a great idea. Well - off to sew some more!  ttyl  :)

Thank you ladies.....and Annie, I used the G foot, it says G on it and one side of the foot (front towards you) is longer than the other side. The G is hard to read but it is just behind where you connect to the leg.

 

Connie....my son aways says...I don't need anything, I have everything I need.....so for Christmas, I bought him some gift cards to WalMart and some restaurants. But gotta have a car, taxi or friend that will take him into town. They have a microwave in the room so I also sent little goodies like popcorn, canned soup (with the pull top lid), etc. My son isn't real crazy about the food there in the galley.

I know Connie .. sad huh?! Both of mine have lost several ipods and miscellaneous other goodies.  Didn't take them long to figure out they better keep stuff locked up.

Connie - sounds like you have him all set up! I'm sure he'll really appreciate all the goodies.

 

On the rack pack - they are great, but when I checked it out for my son (several years ago on the USS Cleveland) they weren't allowed to have them.  So, my advice is to check before you buy.  Also, whatever you get him, if it can't be locked up when he leaves his rack, (I haaaaaaate to say this) it won't be there when he gets back.
