MaryEllen, can't you change the date on her ticket?  the mission they're on shouldn't take that long, maybe a few days. this is the story on the local news website, http://www.wavy.com/dpp/military/bush-dispatched-to-help-injured-sa...

i really, really need jes to come home for christmas.  this will probably be the last time all 3 of my kids will be home for christmas at the same time.  jes is in the navy, cailtyn leaves for the navy in june and allen leaves for the army in march.  so i want this one last christmas with us all together.

jes wouldn't even answer her phone because she said she knew she would cry, she would only text.  she had texted her sister and told her they were coming up to the dock and she'd be off the ship in 2 hours and had her come get her key from me to meet her at her house, they were going to finish their christmas shopping.  at first she thought they were heading over to korea (sorry, she's blonde).  when i told my co-workers what happened a young secretary (she went to school with my daughter) said "can the navy do that?"  i told her it was the military, they can do anything they want.  i grew up in the air force so i know how things can change in an instant.

thank you patty!  my daughter was so upset.  they were pulling into the pier one minute and leaving the next.  she was wanting to see her son then her and her sister were going to finish christmas shopping and get ready for their christmas party tonite, guess the party is cancelled.  now the question is, when will they be back....

Comment by duhhuh58 Ship 10/Div 267 on December 15, 2010 at 4:25pm

it's my understanding that they will be back within a few days.  i sure hope that's true!!!!  nothing like having the pier in site to turn around and head back out.
