My son also shares the goodies I send to him.  I told him I was baking cookies this weekend and sending them to him.  His Chief said to add butterscotch to them :)  He said he would email me if they weren't good, lol... The pressure is on :)

My son hasn't received his box sent the first week of March. He says he has received mail sent after that date though. We were thinking maybe it was lost but there seems to be a lot of people who are waiting on mail. Hopefully it all shows up.

I know it wasn't uncommon to receive mail out of order when I was on the ship. Don't give up hope.

mommaross - There is a group called 'Molly's Adopt A Sailor' in Navy4Moms that also includes a 'We Stitch with Love' subgroup.  Molly's Adopt A Sailor can also be found on FB.  Each month they adopt a different ship or area (small groups that serve in Afghanistan or ??).  They get requests and then, if you are so inclined, you mail a box out during set dates towards the end of the month.  April's adoption happens to be the USS Truxton, part of the USS GHWB Strike group.

Whew,

That is sad.  Here is hoping our sons & daughters share with them so they feel they have a calm and trusting connection with others who can be there for them when needed.  They are ALL in our hearts and prayers.

I received an email Sunday from my Son and he told me that they were very busy in their department and that there was lots going on with work and sailors doing quals, so I'm guessing that's why people haven't had as many emails.  My son has a little office, desk and computer and we're lucky if we get one email a week :).

There is a group on facebook for adopt a sailor but don't know who runs it.  We had Christmas dinner on the Bush this past December and a buddy of my sons joined us for dinner and I asked, just for conversation, what is your family doing today?  He said he had no idea he hadn't spoken to them.  I was shocked that his mom hadn't called to say Merry Christmas.  My son told me there's lots of sailors who don't know what it is to have family be proud of them.  He told me some family members hate them for joining - It makes me want to cry and hug them all.

My son received his 3rd box that I sent him.  Not bad from CA, it took just a bit over 2 weeks.  The USPS.com site still shows the box in Oakland, CA since 3/17. 

He still hasn't received one of the 2 boxes that I sent on 3/3.  I think I'm gonna consider that one lost :(

I have a son and and son in law both firefighters, and my sailor will become a fire fighter once out of Navy Civilian doesn't care about being color blind, that has been what stopped him from being a DC in Navy. Anyway hard when a fire fighter is lost. Both my son and inlay fought in the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fire here in Colorado. This momma is proud of both sons for their service and son in law. My prayers go out to the Boston families.
