Oh I am so glad to read about my sailors ship!!! I have heard nothing since they left port.  I have sent 3 packages but did not know of the last 4 numbers 1730..

I pray he still gets them. he does not have a computer. but has email address. are there computers on ship to use.  I do have information on calling card. I sent an international card to him.  There are country code numbers you need . I called Verizon and the man was very helpful.  He said US cell phones don't work. need to use phone in hotel or buy one like Japan or wherever he is.

US 800 number only works in US.

Guess it won't be long now, that these guys will be eating sushi!  I hear they've been through a few storms and diverted course more than once!!

Brenda, I spotted your son in a couple of GTown holiday pictures...

Carol, I met the uncle of another sailor onboard that is as tall as your son. There are 2 "headbangers" on that ship!

I couldn't be in San Diego in person, so I watched on my computer, webcams and snapped pictures.

Yes!  Happy Holidays!  Thankfully, my daughter got last minute clearance to come home for a few days.  Now comes the hard part again, she's freezing her phone account today, so we'll be back to phone cards, email and snail mail.  I'm going to try Skype.  Have you guys done that?  I hope 2011 finds everyone better than last year!

Merry Christmas! She's on board! Loves it. We'll see when she gets back from first "water" experience... sea sick? Hahahaha. I was allowed a private ship tour myself! Now I can relate to what she tells me. It was awesome. The upcoming deployment will end as a Tiger cruise. Anyone ever do that?

Greetings!! My daughter has not left GL, yet. I think she's waiting for snow! It does looks like she'll be home with me on Thanksgiving, however, then on to SD. We don't know specific dates yet. She's very excited and cannot wait to relocate. Brenda, She tells me that she has heard that this ship will be traveling mid/late January, we'll see... you hear anything different? Carolcbss - Thanks for letting me know that cell phones work on the ship! I hope Abigail will get to experience a short test run too before any lengthy trip. The distance she's been from shore is those piers you can walk to the end of the California! She asked for it though! I'm sure she'll be okay. :) I look forward to her having a few days home, her 1st time since bootcamp began.

Hi, I'm Lorna, in Nevada. Daughter just graduated bootcamp, still in GL, and her orders are to be in SD, on this ship end of November. I'm very new to all this, learning as I go. So I guess I will know a lot more in another month or so. (I just found out we are Gator Navy Moms now.)

I, too, am glad there are "others" associated with this ship. Thanks. I'll be talking to you all later, I'm sure. Have a great weekend.
