Welcome Barb (?)...are you Grandmom or Mom? Saw the BM on your name. Curious as i know there is at least one other Grandmom here...my mom :-) My son is Cory...he just turned 20 and he's been on the ship since last September. Looks like your sailor is a younger one like ours...maybe they will all connect.

I, too, thought they were underway already....but who really knows lol. Congrats on the new Sailor in your family...he's very handsome!

Hi there ProudGMBarb =) We are excited to have another member of our son's and daughter's ship. There are not many of us, but we keep each other in the loop. I am in North Carolina. My son has been on the G'town a year now and he is a SHSN. I am thinking they are currently underway. If you are on Facebook, we have a group that we can talk "openly" about our kiddo's if you interested, let me know. Welcome to the group!

Hello everyone! Our sailor will be joining up with the USS Germantown in a few days! I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and learning more about this awesome ship and all about your sailor's experience onboard it.

Can you tell me who the ombudsman is? Does he/she post here...or on the Germantown FB page? I'm excited...now I have more to learn!

dustysmom, I am also on FB under Michelle Lucas Adams. :) Looks like our sons are hanging out. I just had a Voxer from him. He is on duty. If you have an Andriod phone, Voxer, is a walkie talkie app....I love it. He actually told me about it when he was home. =) Josh graduated Boot Camp a year ago today. I am a little more emotional than usual today....It was such a wonderful day..snowing and -11 degrees. =) Happy Friday

I guess they were to ship out today if plans didn't change.  Dustin really liked where they were going when he was there before.  But he wan't looking forward to it just the same.  I saw the pics at the amusement park and the aquarium.  Was there more?  The sure looked like they were having fun and goofing around.  What you should be able to do at 19.

Just a thought ladies...when Joshua came home I created a "secret group" on Facebook so we could plan our surprise parties and send out invites without him knowing.... Only people who were added to the group could see these post. I thought about creating a USS Germantown Mom's "secret group" on FB if you all are interested.  That way we can secretly share information as most anyone can see what we post on here. =) Send me a message and I will tell you how to find me.... if your not already my friend on FB
