It's been not quite a month since our Sailors and Marines headed off to do the duty they so proudly do.  I would like to hear from others who have kiddos on the USS Green Bay.

I am IT2 Smith's mom, Jo.  She left behind her husband and soon to be four-year-old son.  This is her first sea duty and she is really missing her guys.  I think it would be great if we could kind of network through our kids.  Like tell who your loved one is and then I ask my loved one if she knows him/her.  Then tell her to tell your loved on hi from me and from you.  Then relay back that she knows your loved one and you can do the same.  Kind of like when they were in school and we were all known as "So-n-so's Mom".  I got my own name back just in time to be Camryn's Nana!

I know they think they know pretty much everyone on the ship, but I bet we can still make some new introductions.

May God look over and protect the USS Green Bay and her crew!

Oh, and if anyone has a daughter with kids on board, let me know.  I think the moms can relate better to each other than the single ones without kids.

Hi   I'm ET3 Maccarone's mom, Chris. He has been in the Navy for 3 years and this is his first deployment. We have been blessed to have him in SD for the last 1 1/2 years and he could come home as often as he wanted as we live just 150 north of SD. He actually called us on Tues am and his brother on Weds am. It was such a surprise as we were at work and  as a teacher I don't usually answer my phone. He just said it was the "same scenery" day after day! Just water everywhere you look. LOL   It would be nice to get a network going but Pat always tells me that he only really knows the people in his work area!

Hi, Chris!  That is great that you got to talk to him.  My daughter uses her opportunities to call to talk to her husband and son.  Cam, her son, doesn't want to get off the phone with her.  He is being a big boy about it but still misses his Mommy.

I live in Dallas, TX, and as much as I love going to San Diego, I liked it better when they were in Gulfport, MS.  I got to see them a lot more often.  And when Matt, my son-in-law, was on deployment and my daughter had FX, I would meet her halfway to pick up Cam the week before the FX started and then meet again halfway to give him back the week after it ended.  It was awesome getting to be such a huge part of his life.  I really miss it.  I will ask Kat if she knows your son.

Take care!

Jo

I asked my daughter if she knew your son and she does.  I asked her to tell him that your mom said his mom said "hi".  She said, "Uh, ok."  Then later she sent me a chat message saying that he was there with her.  so I guess she passed on the message.  :-)
