For the sailors who have been in our home, I found a welcome home sign really helped! I'm sure most of you know that, but thought I'd mention it anyway. You can order them or make your own.
Happy for all you moms and dads who are so excited to see your sons and daughters!

Anyone know of (and have a # or email for) a photographer who might already be working on the pier for the Truman return that one can hire for a photo or two?
Jacob94mom...Where are you from in IN? I'm leaving from WI and I'm a bit worried about going thru WV. I don't want to drive via PA and past DC, did that a few years ago and the traffic was awful. Your son should know by now what leave he gets..I know mine does. I think the leave is 4 days not 5 as well. Good luck!
Cam'smom is right! Make sure you have an umbrella! There have been times when we were meeting a ship and it poured! Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. :)

This is so exciting. I did watch my son come in on a ship about 10 years ago, but this is my daughter and it's different this time around. And I will be by myself, but I see lots of support here and looking forward to all be excited together. She did tell me what pier they will be at, not sure I can say it here. Ask your sailor that question if you did not get a packet because I did not get a packet, but I am on the list she says. Did I miss the emblem that was going to be posted for us to print? My name is Dorie so I will be wearing my Dory fish pin, lol and of course my Navy Mom hat.
Can't wait, one day closer!
Brandi..I am sure it will be! Comfortable shoes, a hat/visor, sunscreen, light clothing, an umbrella in case of rain or for the sun...a small cooler for drinks...soft sided and small! My first time too but I'm so excited!
