Amber didn't think they needed passports as long as they are aligned with the ship. Pretty sure my daughter doesn't have one. But maybe I'm wrong.

Lorabellee welcome to the group

B'sNukeMoM you asked the other day what my daughter did before this Yoeman change. She worked on forklifts & the elevators. But guess what, I got an email this evening and she said she was training in her new position & she liked it. Happy dance!!!

I am new to this group and trying to figure out the comments and chat options.  This is my sons first full deployment (he did 2 months on the last one). I'm so glad to be a part of this community. My husband was an officer on the USS Ohio sub years ago so a little familiar with Navy stuff and loved the wives clubs and get togethers. It's a tad different being a Navy mom tho..as I am worrying so much more. The threats are a tad more real than they were in '82 . Glad to be a part of this and thank you in advance for the help and support.

B'sNukeMom, yea, I actually did worry about it going overboard. That just might be a good idea for him to fill out the form and mail it to me. I did think of getting another copy, wish we would have thought of it sooner. But then he should have taken care of this when he was home. He was just so occupied with seeing family and friends, the time flew by so fast! Thanks for the help!

Amber A -  I would go to the county recorder and get a certified copy of his birth certificate just in case something happens when you mail the original.  Many years ago I got a certified copy of my son's so we technically have 2 BC's.  He has one he keeps locked in a safe place & I have one in a safe place at home.  I've heard (on the Truman FB page) that there were incidences of mail going overboard on the last deployment.  And when it goes overboard it becomes fish food!  So keep that in mind with anything you send!

Could he send you the form once he has it complete with the picture & then you mail it in along with the BC?  Maybe that would work better....

I have a question if anybody can help. If my son did not get his passport before he left, can I mail him his B.C.? He seems to think I can. He has the passport form already with him and said he can get his picture on the ship. I also heard  that he could get one through the military cheaper and quicker? I don't know the quickest and safest way to do this..

I got one last, I love you mom text this morning. Kept it together because I was at work but now can't help the tears. Going to church when I get off this train.
